I don’t see anyone picking them to win a natty but it’s an interesting hire.

Exactly, and they compete in a conference that routinely has over half its teams finish in the top 25 of the recruiting rankings every year.

They need all the help they can get. They need to think outside the box and take a chance.

No one expects them to start pulling in blue chip recruits, but this hire might help them identify underrated recruits and get in on the late bloomers early.

Vandy can’t compete playing the same game everyone else is playing. Simmons might end up being a bust hire, but at least Vandy is trying something a little different to level the playing field.

With the last name Weinstein he’ll be perfect for Vandy in a couple ways.
