Football scoop is saying Paul Rhodes is a finalist at TX state

Why? I'd get a young hungry coordinator

Claude Mathis isn't qualified

Yea, but based on that list, I'd take Rhodes if he still has that energy.

Craig Naviar, the UH defensive coordinator, has been rumored to not even been contacted by the AD at Texas State (Larry Teis)

With Rhoads buyout from Iowa State, he can take a paycut and come to San Marcos. I don't think he's a great fit, however (defensive minded coach).

We need to hire someone that will open up the field, run a gimmicky offense, and hopefully win some games like that.

The biggest problem right now is that the Texas State University system has a rule that no employee can make more than the University president. The current pres makes around 450k. So they are currently working on getting creative with the contract.

Base salary of 440k + 40k per victory of something like that. Teis is a terrible AD.

I'd be OK with Rhoads. I just want a fresh start and someone with minimal to no ties to Texas State. I read that about the salary and also this tweet below about the salary.

Also can confirm the #TXST BOR has approved an increase to football HC base salary. Was not told specific number but in the $650-$700k range

I like Trauth and think she's done an outstanding job with the university, but she needs to shite can Teis.
