I keep seeing people ruling out the possibity of hiring away another SEC program's coach. Why?

1) Not very common. Off the top of my head the only other one recently was Reverend Nutt to OM but obviously he was fired from Arkansas.

2) I could be wrong but I wanna say I remember reading Mullen has a pretty substantial buyout if he leaves for another SEC school. Popped up during the UF search.

Lots of acrimony at the upper levels following the Tuberville hire. Given the current corporate nature of the SEC in this big money era, I think it's basically a gentlemen's agreement.

I don't think Mullens would be worth the fallout. It would take a guy of Saban's stature, and maybe about 5 years younger, to do it.

How can we forget Dinardo from Vandy to LSU? Yes, Vandy football is technically in the SEC.

There's certainly been a precedent set for snatching away coordinators.

When Saban was known to be leaving LSU, there was a lot of smoke out there that was never addressed by Skip at the time: Tubby really wanted a shot at the LSU job. Skip had no interest but it was also supposedly told to Tubs that the SEC would not allow him to hop from another SEC position to another again.

Man Sexton has left a legacy of ridiculousness in this conference

Because the landscape is totally different now... everybody had money. 20 years ago a program like auburn held a higher advantage over ole miss. That's all but gone.

Hasn't happened since Slice became commish. I think the general thought is that he kept hires from happening from other conference schools.

Tubs had every reason to go to Auburn. Ole Miss is in a much better place in 2015 across the board than in 1998. Without Tubs forcing us to look in the mirror, I'm not sure we would be where we are today.
