Lots of smoke about this. His son and daughter have been following a lot of Tulane pages/ liking posts on Twitter about their dad

I think this would be a solid hire. His Air Force teams are typically very good considering the recruiting challenges there

Crazy that Tulane could poach a successful coach from his Alma mater with that much longevity. Maybe it’s time for a change?

Fritz clearly made the job way more attractive than it used to be.

I think all the service academy coaches are looking for an out because of the cut block rule changes

That and their restrictions in the portal and NIL.

That would make sense because Army’s coach Jeff Monken also interviewed

Good for TU if that happens. TU has never had a history of replacing good coaches with competent hires.

Calhoun is an Air Force alum too so that’s an interesting hire if Tulane gets him to leave

Triple Option to Tulane? Yes. Please make this happen, football gods.

It's really unfair how service academy coaches often get stigmatized by other programs because of the triple option and are often avoided by other programs.

In Calhoun's case his last job was as an NFL OC. Always surprised me he never got a shot somewhere else. His name has been floated for a ton of jobs over the years.

17 Years
129-82
Only missed a bowl 4 times. One of those was the covid year when they went 3-3.
5 10 win seasons
Went 11-2 in 2019 and were ranked 22nd in the AP Poll.

Solid resume given their situation.

I would not expect him to run the triple option at Tulane.

Isn't his version of the Triple Option a good bit different too? Lots of play action and vertical passing, zone reads etc

This guy was flying under my radar. Years of competence and competitiveness in a difficult program like AF would be a great hire for Tulane.

Seems like he's been entertaining leaving for a while but couldn't get anyone to bite. Maybe he sees he can't land a big fish job from a service academy.

I mean he is 57 years old. He's making about 1.5 at AF and they will have a harder and harder time competing in the NIL era.

He can double that at Tulane as he gets into his 60s and if he does well, maybe get a Big 12 or ACC job to get even more and finish out his career.

Seems like a winner and a good fit for Tulane. The triple option stuff does not scare me, we have talent for other offenses and he knows that.
