I've addressed my opinion on this hire in another thread on Coaching changes, so I won't do it again. That being said, after listening to Orgeron's press conference and his plans for the program, I am feeling a little more optimistic. If he get's a OC there who can instill a great offensive scheme, recruit players the level of Alabama and develop QB's and is a smart play caller, then I believe Orgeron will have a lot of success at LSU. The head coach should hire the best coaches available and let them do their frickin job. If he can do that, then I see success in the future of LSU. I've been an LSU fan since I can remember. I lived through the years of mediocrity during the 70's and 80's and 90's. I heard people say, "LSU can't win the National Championship!" I watched year after year as the top Louisiana talent went to schools like Miami and Alabama and USC and Nebraska and Notre Dame. I believe Orgeron can do what he says he plans on doing, it's just I don't know if he will stick to his guns and do it. I will say, after listening to his press conference I am feeling a little more optimistic.

I'm 100% with you. I honestly think the improvements we did see on offense while O was the interim was just that...him letting his assistants do their thing.
So in that aspect, I can definitely see good things coming IF he can get a good OC.
It just sucks because Herman or Fisher would've been that good offensive mind that we so desperately need.

Yea, I know. But if he can't get the best layers from Louisiana to join him, it may all be for naught. Or, replace these players with equal caliber players from out of state. Right now, it's not looking good for instate recruiting. Already lost Moses and Shelvin, and now Chris Allen. That's 3 of the top 10 players from the state. And any one of those players could be the difference in a win or a loss to Alabama or anyone else. I he can go out of state and replace these guy's, then he has a shot. But, you gotta have the same caliber players as Alabama if you want to beat them.

Please go away then. I'm sure the school and athletic programs will be fine without you.

I agree with all in this thread..... O is a very scary choice..... not a lot of upside and a huge downside risk. Exact opposite of a Herman hire. Oh well!!!
We lost Shelvin too?

I spend hours and hours per day reading and researching LSU football. That shite is over. I can't devote my time to an admin that doesnt take this serious.

Actually, no, that would be the women, swamp people and media that were knighting for O. Don't you wonder why people like Jessie Palmer (UF), McElroy and Finebaum (Gumps) were selling O so hard? The other SEC teams have to be laughing their asses off, knowing the only team capable of competing with Bama just picked their galley cook to captain their ship.

It's eerily similar to the Johnny Jones hire. Hometown guy with bad resume' and some baggage to go along with it promoted to head coach on a wave of "He's one of us!" sentiment from the fans and former players.

I love my Tigers, always have, always will. This one just hurts...bad. It's not just Coach O...but the implications and backlash that come with it.
Don't get me wrong...I'll be pulling for him and hoping for the best, I just don't have a good feeling about any of this.
It's blatantly obvious that we missed the HC mark by a long shot and had to scramble at the end. Emberassing is really the best way to describe it.
Oh well...like I said before...I love my Tigers. Here's to mediocrity!
this whole post just screams "I don't want to be wrong".
You can't play both sides of the field like that.

Don't fire JJ until Alleva is gone unless you want Alleva picking JJ's replacement.

No, not Shelvin. I miss read an article in the news paper. Sorry about that. As far as I know he is still an LSU commit. Plus, I did see on 247 that Marvin Wilson is favoring LSU. Man, I like Shelvin more than Wilson, but they are both beast on the D-Line. I just hope and pray Orgeron can change the minds of some of these instate players. If he gets a good OC and keeps Aranda there's little doubt in my mind LSU can get back to competing for NC's. Anyway, sorry about that mistake. Hope I didn't cause anyone a heart attack. LOL
