Bobby Burton of Horns247.com is reporting that Texas has hired Louisville head coach Charlie Strong as its new head coach.

In their anticipated search to replace Strong, Louisville has reached out to Duke head coach David Cutcliffe to gauge his interest in the Cardinals head coaching position.

I would be surprised if Cutcliffe is interested. He seems to like coaching at Duke. Although, you never know

I'd probably stay at Duke over Louisville if it was me.

How old is he? I sort of got the idea he was pretty much just going to ride off into the sunset at Duke.

59. Getting up there. Lateral move IMO and he's already a hero at Duke.

Lateral move? How many BCS bowls has Duke won?

I think Cutcliffe is happy at Duke. Not a lot of pressure, and he's gotta be pretty close to retiring.

he's had one major heart attack and had to leave ND due to heart issues/another attack

if UL has any expectations, he'll likely die there

I don't think Ole Miss should have ever fired him.

I've always liked Ol' Cutcliffe.

They're in the ACC and he has just as much a shot at winning an ACC Championship there as he would at UofL once that move is complete. Especially with the group he's recruited there at this point.

Realistically UL is probably going to have to go with a coordinator. Not dissing the program but just not that many head coaches that would take it and be a good hire. Hard to find both anyway.

Kirby Smart - No

Zach Azzani - was rumored to Georgia southern earlier, but would he turn down Louisville?

Joker Phillips - you never know

TRob from Florida- I expect him to be a coordinator first but nowadays you dont know. Already a hell of a recruiter in Florida but nowadays you don't know

Rhett Lashlee- Natty effect

Except it's a heck of a lot easier to recruit at Louisville. And I know you hate Louisville but please don't act like the two schools are close to the same level. Duke's had a nice season for them but haven't come close to anything Louisville has done the last ten years.

So you'd trade what Cutcliffe has on the roster right now for a Bridgewater-less UofL roster that may not even be able to win consistently in a major football conference?

Think I meant Bajakian, both are good recruiters and coaches
