A couple dozen guys on the coaching changes board who had convinced themselves LSU was going to just pluck the next Saban out of thin air does not equal half a fanbase. The vast majority of people I talked to either wanted to give Orgeron a shot or had him third behind Jimbo and Herman.

If it bothers you, give up your tickets. There's a long waiting list for them.

The fanbase is fractured because half of the fans are not fans. They are miserable assholes that bitch incessantly and feel utter despair every time something doesn't go their way.

LSU was looking out for LSU and their future. I don't blame them. I'm really not worried about a divided fanbase.. Besides, winning has a way of bringing everyone together.

And if you think they'll have problems selling tickets, I can give you over 100,000 reasons that won't be the case.

you are correct

O is a lesser version of Miles

AND

this hire was made based on O pushing continuity

so it's almost literally spinning in a circle and telling your fans "look we have to settle b/c we don't want to try be a top program. we need to stay right where we are."

We needed the homerun hire to galvanize a broken fanbase.

So who would be a "home run" hire?

There is never any guarantee you'll get the coach you wanted when can a sitting coach. Texas whiffed on Saban 3 years ago. ND missed on Meyer in 2004.

Who would excite you?
Fedora? No! Gundy? Hell no! Holgerson? He's garbage. Fleck? Unproven! Fuentes? Maybe. Macintyre? Maybe. However, neither Fuentes or Macintyre are "home runs" in the eyes of CFB.

LSU can't compete with Texas for a head coach. It's that simple.

Which is the worst hire you could make in this situation. Continuity of what? Angry fans, half empty stadium at half time, losing to bama?

It's such a can't see the forest for the trees decision.

i want to be a super elite program again

nothing about hiring supports that goal. it's settling on where we're at

the irony is that they want to keep LSU where we're at, but fire Les and hire a similar, lesser version of him

and we hire a coach who won't do that

so you're making B's point for him, just in another way

You know what I was looking forward to? LSU football not having this cloud of stupidity over it.

Even if Herman or jimbo fail, they'd never get the "stupid" tag that followed Les around

That's definitely staying now

Didn't expect you to be throwing a hissy fit too. I've been saying it for two months now, we were competing against Texas and Jimbo has no incentive to leave what he has. This was never going to be a splash hire. Devoid of clear cut upgrades, continuity with no more handcuffs is a pretty logical choice.

It's embarrassing what has happened to lsu's special teams after being really strong in it for 13+ years before he took that position.

Keeping him because he has a few contacts in Texas is just a joke.

I rather have just kept Les Miles. At least we had a villain. Now our program is confirmed full of stupid.

I don't like seeing behind the curtain.
