Crazy how people forget that. It's more crazy he didn't get fired for that

Yep, I remember and I'm not a fan. However I would believe Alleva would covet him as a candidate and he has personal connections with at least one LSU donor.

He was winning early, so he got away with it. I think B Kelly is a solid coach, though I know a lot of the W/L numbers don't really distinguish him much from predecessors. I think he would do well at LSU, but he is a grade A a-hole and probably needs a lower profile job to cool off for a bit.

I think he's a very good coach. It's become really tough to win big at ND

Except that he's had multiple players either get suspended for a season or kicked off the team altogether almost every year

I agree that it could very well be someone no is talking about. Every time a coach is hired it seems it is someone who wasn't on the radar. I certainly hope it is not Kelley, but I truly believe names are leaked to distract and throw everyone off the scent to keep the real guy safe from the speculation.

Kelly would do well here. You can't recruit elite talent at Notre dame anymore bc of academic standards.

I've seen these play out. A lot of times the hire ends up being a name that has intentionally been kept quiet while other names are floated out to appease the public and to not attract attention to to the true candidate.

That being said, remember the name Brian Kelly. Downvote away, just remember the name.

His name was mentioned at the beginning. He would be a great hire. He's made a championship game appearance. He's severely limited when it comes to recruiting (academic standards have gutted the ND football program). He's a fantastic offensive mind and has developed plenty of QBs.

Did I mention that his offense is basically built to beat nick saban defenses? He could do it with the talent he would have access to at LSU

I'd happily take him

Would be a great hire and so would Kyle Whittingham but LSU fans will just laugh.

Kelly is untouchable right now. Dude is radioactive after this season at ND.

Wittingham is actually a very good coach, but seems like he would be a terrible cultural fit here, or anywhere in the South. People in Utah say he despises or barely tolerates most of the aspects of of being a head coach, other than coaching. That may work over in Utah, but not in the SEC.
