If you want an elite coach you pay him enough that he cant even listen to another offer. You don't blink.

Agreed. The call should've gone something like, "we want you to coach our football team, name your price." If Alleva wants a coach like Jimbo to leave a school like FSU, he can't haggle price with him. We want you; you tell us how to make it happen.

We paid Nick Saban top dollars and he had a pedestrian record at MSU. Wish we had administration with balls that big now-a-days.

Honestly, if they are haggling about money, we don't deserve to be considered a top tier program. You have to be willing to spend the money to get the best. Otherwise, you are just settling for mediocrity.

It's as if you are spending someone else's money. Paying Fisher more isn't going to make him a better coach. At some point, he's not worth it.

Never said paying a coach more makes him a better coach, but if you want to win and you believe you know the guy who can make that happen, you sure as frick don't haggle over a couple more million dollars if you are a legitimate top tier program. If you can't do that, then you do t have the money to run with the big boys.

And though many will argue that Saban was gonna eventually scratch that NFL itch regardless of whether Bertman & TPTB matched Huizenga or not. You match it and kiss his @ss(not be contentious..and also run off Pat Henry)..LSU could've surpassed Miami's title glut run if run with true foresight.

Sumlin has nothing to do with this. If LSU wants Fisher or Herman they shouldn't flinch another a few extra incentives or dollars. It's that simple.

i agree if you think prospective coach x,y,z is your guy you go get him. If you paid 10 mill to can a guy, you better have the wallet open to get the next guy. If Jimbo is your guy ask him what its gonna take and sign the deal; doesn't matter if its TH. If that's your dude pay the man and make it happen!!
