The case for Tee Martin OC

recruiter of the year last year and 2nd so far this year. He did a solid job with the OC position his one year as OC at USC. Do we really need a OC genius and is Kiffen really a genius anyway.? We did pretty well with Ensminger, and Tee Martin at the minimum is a big upgrade from him. If we are going to catch up to bama we need better players and Tee Martin would be a step in that direction.

A lot of guys could look good when calling plays for Sam Darnold.

We are going to have to scheme around Bama. I don't think Tee Martin is going to do that.
Also Clay Helton was the OC before he was HC. So you have to wonder if Martin has really developed his own offense.
He will have full autonomy at LSU have to wonder if he is ready to mark that leap.

It may not be Tee Martins own offense but he must of learned a few things under Helton. Plus he was the passing game coordinator there for a few years.

better players would go a long way as well. I would go with better players with a wide open pro style offense over some OC, with his own offense, who doesn't bring in as good of recruits

Don't really need but would be great to have another awesome recruiter. LSU Needs a Great OC who can also develop QB's.

Canada, Kiffin or Riley. IMO for new OC coach.

Other than recruiting there is none!
I have no idea why he is so high on anyone's list. He played in a college offense that featured the running game. His resume as an offensive assistant is not great.
Where has he shown offensive creativity?
He's coached at New Mexico and Kentucky before USC and has one year as USC OC. What has he proven? He learned his chops under Joker Phillips?
If this is our hire, then O is going to have a short career as HC.

Perhaps he's a good QB developer, but isn't his offensive background predominately pro-style?

nothing wrong with pro style if it is done the right way. No a 1970's pro style won't work but a 2010's pro style works just fine.
I'll take a modern pro style with elite athletes all day long

No - we have enough recruiters this hire is too important - if you win recruiting takes care of itself

can never have "enough" top recruiters on staff and USC thought enough of his OC talents to make him their OC.

there is a lot more to it than just that

Way off base on this one. OC needs to be brilliant in schemes and play calls first. He will shape the offense since O has no offensive experience.

Ok sounds great now explain to me WHY Martin is going to leave USC where he is the OC to come to LSU and be the OC? Since at best it is a lateral move and at worst it could be looked at as a slight downward move.

Not to mention his wife has business in LA and loves it there. You go tell your wife who loves Hollywood we movin to the Bayou

because due to all the money we saved by hiring Orgeron we are going to double whatever amount USC offers to keep him.
I would think by now everyone would realize, especially considering Bama, that talent wins championships. You can out scheme and win a game here and there but talent is going to win out over the long haul.

He's a fantastic recruiter but he was absolute shite for a WR coach at UK.

Already have 1 offensive coach, D. Craig, who can recruit but not as able on the coaching aspect. We need an offensive ninja.

You're an idiot if you think that Riley is coming.
Come on.
