I know, right? Wouldn't they want a guy who's more concerned with winning games than raising money? They have more money than God, apparently.

Yeh the anti Mack brown is exactly what they want. Look I know y'all hate Texas but saying they made a good higher is ok. They looked just as stupid saying sumlin won't be any good in a real conference without keenum

There's more PR involved than your average job, which I think is what he was trying to get at in the article, but Mack seemed like more of a spokesperson than a FB coach at the end. Strong seems like more of a hardass and they need discipline.

They no doubt missed on a lot of people though and I think he's a big gamble considering the level of job Texas is.

I know, but you would think they're ready to win. Mack is sticking around to fundraise. Let him handle that, it's pretty much all he's been doing for 10 years anyway.

Yeah I completely agree. I'm interested to see who he puts on staff and if he takes a more national approach recruiting with the ties to the southeast

Strong has a more impressive resume than Sumlin when he got hired. Sumlin turned out fine. Strong will be able to recruit the elite defensive talent in the state. Good hire for Texas.

I hink he stays loyal to the Louisville staff, maybe hires a different D coordinator. Texas recruits itself, so he wont need any guys with Texas roots

I'm sure he'll have some guys with Texas experience on his staff. Someone mentioned earlier about Florida recruiting, if he can recruit Florida well and maintain a presence in Texas, they're going to build one hell of a defense. For Texas' sake, let's hope they don't pass/miss on the next Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin, Johnny Manziel or Jameis Winston to run the offense.

Falling arse-backwards into to once in a lifetime player like JFF and an O-line already in tact can make anyone turn out fine

Making a home run OC hire will be key. They need to suck it up and run a true spread too. Every HS in TX runs it and it makes it so easy to recruit and develop all the skill position talent coming out of here

Maybe if Chad Morris doesn't get a head coaching job or maybe take Chaney from Arkansas.
