Who were names thrown around and who else interviewed for the job? Was Miles a dark horse hire?

Petrino had a good interview and almost got the job. Miles apparently had a better interview.

Petrino interviewed and Bertman did care for him. Names like Rich Rod were thrown around.

I think Petrino's a bit of a douche, but if he keeps it in his pants he is a decent football coach.

Still think he's a coward for what he did to the Falcons but at least I hate the Falcons

Yes Meyer was hired the first week of December, before Saban even left LSU.

Well Skip did hate him, but at least a couple of the powerful people liked Petrino to keep him in the running.

Guess he wasn't speaking in Milesisms or maybe the AD was mesmerized/confused by it.

Didn't somebody link the story last November when the clusterfrick was going on, which detailed how Miles got the job after Skip, Weems, Gill, etc. were impressed by him? That had some good stuff.

I hope the same thing doesn't happen here. Big names thrown around as bait then you get stuck with someone not on the same level!

He had a terrible interview. The kind where people in the room were looking at each other like: is this for real?

That hire worked out pretty well, imo

That's why I was wondering what names were thrown around and what we ended up with? Could this situation end up the same.

Petrino had absolutely horrible interview and may have told an off color joke that offended Skip. Somebody on here posted about how bad it was and coming on the heals of Nick "don't look at me when i'm talking" Saban nobody wanted to deal with another jerk. Miles came in talking about how much Bo Schembechler admired LSU and that was it.

Del Rio's agent screwed up by not informing Jags owner. Since the agent didn't inform the owner, Del Rio canceled the interview after LSU officials were in Jacksonville
