I am not saying he is but we were talking about this during the game tonight. With all his recent bowl game losses, does this put him in consideration for the hot seat in Oklahoma?

that would be one of the dumbest decisions made in football history. hasnt he had double digit wins over half of his seasons there? oklahoma IMHO is an elite program, they go to BCS bowls frequently and he really does re-load. great recruiter and oklahoma was AWFUL before he got there, he may not be big-game bob anymore but he is a heulluva coach and any program in the country would want him

I totally agree but he is also at a university that expects national titles. Like here at LSU people are/were willing to dismiss Miles because he has not brought a title here even though he has had 3 straight 10 plus win seasons. We were just thinking with him being at one of those schools with national championship on the brain every year, they may be getting antsy over in Oklahoma and tired of losing the big games. I think it would be stupid too, just curious if a their big program wants a national title now or move on.

Those people are fricking morons, as is anybody who thinks Bob Stoops is on the hot seat at Oklahoma. This will be the 1st repeat champion in the 10 years of the BCS. 10 years, 9 different champions. shite is hard to do. How do people not understand this?

They don't think about what they're posting before they post it.

Stoops isn't on the hotseat. Not with 3 NC appearances, one of them being a victory.

Not so much the OP, but his friends. Were they seriously having a conversation about canning Stoops because he has only won 1 NC in his tenure?

No, but talk of him being over-rated will kick up being 1 for his last 5 bowl games.

it is a ridiculous thought. There is no way in hell that I would ever fire Bob Stoops, but I understand what he is saying. Hell right now they are blasting him on ESPN (thats not saying much). I think back to some Alabama fans always thinking they are a national championship team when they are not. When you live on high expectations you sometimes die by them too. With that being said I still think they could not find a better coach for that program. Stoops is solid. JMHO

Stoops is a good coach and he consistently puts Oklahoma in BCS bowls. OU would be really stupid to put him on the hot seat.

Okay I see a couple of you saw what the thought was, not that he deserves to be fired. Just the fact he is at one of those schools that expects a title too often. If you do not see one soon enough you are gone. Stoops has been struggling recently in post season and if he was here you know there would be a large group of LSU fans asking for his job because he has not won one recently. We all saw how many felt about Miles when Michigan popped up. Peach Bowl, Sugar Bowl and BCS National Championship was not enough for many fans with Miles all 10 plus win seasons. Oklahoma seems like one of the schools who has that same train of thought.

I was in OK for a few years at the end of the John Blake era and the first year of Stoops. I have a feeling the OU fans still hold Stoops in a very high reguard for bringing the program back from the dead.

Stoops is not on the hot seat and, if he were the coach at LSU, we would not be asking for his head b/c he didn't win one again. People still blow Saban and he won less than Miles.

he's not on the hot seat. been listening to local sports radio all morning (and laughing )...fans sound like they're getting used to not finishing the season w/ a win. he'd have to start consistently losing 2-3-4 and going to lower tier bowls to get on the hot seat.

He may or may not be on a hot seat. However, Stoops never ceases to amaze me at how poorly his very good teams do in Bowl games!!! It appears his bowl record is not a chance occurrence. The team that play in the Big 12 Champ game was not there last night.

When Oklahoma lost the other day, I couldn't help but think about Lloyd Carr. Carr was the toast of the town after the '97 National Championship. And he continued to win big games and bowl games. Then, he started losing all his bowl games and losing to OSU. The last few years the cries for a coaching change became louder and louder. Winning the vast majority of your games doesn't count for much these days at the top progams. You have to beat your rival and win national championships. That's just the way it is these days. So, if Stoops continues this pattern, then he will be on the hot seat.
