I heard from a high level (not super high) state employee that Spurriers wife closed on a house a couple days ago, and spurrier himself was escorted by police to and from the airport yesterday.
Also, that same person has close friends at a particular utility company and there was a request for new service in the name of Spurrier.

At this point I don't know what to think... but doesn't anyone think it's suspicious that several people on the rant have some of these stories all on the same day about the same coach?

I havn't seen anyone posting that they saw Tressels wife, or Rodriguez's wife, or Cowher's wife, etc... was in town, but several people has mentioned stuff about Spurrier.

I think it is all rumors. You can't close on a house in less than a week or so. Sorry to burst your bubble.

And the whole coaching search thing really doesn't work that way. Coaches don't send their wives to look for homes before they get hired. They get hired and then borrow a house for a while until finding one to buy.

Yep TAF probably owns a condo or something for this very reason.

Learn that some people do actually have some at least semi-credible sources... and that sometimes the rumors may actually be true?

You jackass!

I am a real estate closing attorney - that's all I do, and I could close the deal in my home parish in one day for cash if I needed to.

The story is still unlikely, but don't make statements like this.

Who says you can't? Maybe if you have to finance it, but do you think they would be financing it?

On a cash sale, w/ no past title issues it's entirely possible. Especially if title is being passed by the same title company that handled the previous sale. Furthermore, all the title companies are kind of slow right now so w/in 1 week not an issue.

And just because LSU says they havn't heard UM's interest in Miles til a week ago doesn't mean it's true.

There were rumors months ago about miles leaving. You think LSU wouldn't at least contact some people ahead of time. You think they are actually going to wait to the very end to get proactive?

They could have talked to spurrier 2 months ago. You don't know... and shouldn't take what anyone at LSU or SC says as truth.

I wouldn't put "much", or better yet, "any" stock in any of this...
It's all pretty much Rampant Rumor Mill 101!

As for the Police escort, I can tell you with a pretty high degree of certainty...that didn't happen!

Yes I am real estate, have been for over 6 years, and know all this. I just don't think it has happened.

I posted on 9/23/07 that Spurrier would be our next coach. Even have a bet on it w/ RummelTiger.

And of course, I have a source.

BTW, RR is my first choice.
