I posted last night about holding O to the same standards as Jimbo and Herman would have been. That, to me, is a top ten ranking at the end of next year and a new years six bowl in 2018.

I've already read excuse after excuse of why no one should expect better than 8-4 (4-4) in 2017. Wtf is wrong with you people? Why do you want a coach with those low of expectations??? Im pulling for O, but that's just not acceptable with our schedule. Someone point out all the losses based on our schedule:

quote:

Sept. 2 BYU at Houston

Sept. 9 UT-Chattanooga (H)

Sept. 16 at Mississippi St.

Sept. 23 Syracuse (H)

Sept. 30 Troy (H)

Oct. 7 at Florida

Oct. 14 Auburn (H)

Oct. 21 at Ole Miss

Oct. 28 Open

Nov. 4 at Alabama

Nov. 11 Arkansas (H)

Nov. 18 at Tennessee

Nov. 25 Texas A&M (H)

With this schedule if we're 50% in SEC play that is pure shite. Might as well have kept Les for that type of record. I want a DAY 1 O supporter to explain why 8-4 (4-4) would be acceptable.

Regardless of coach, 8-4 or 9-3 is a reasonable expectation for next year. LSU loses a frick ton of talent and has unproven depth to fill it.

Offensively we should be fine but defensively we lose most of the starting 11.

Huh? His players? He's been head of recruiting. Has he not been getting his players?

Sept. 16 at Mississippi St. W (but close, fitzgerald is solid)

Sept. 23 Syracuse (H) W

Sept. 30 Troy (H) W

Oct. 7 at Florida toss up (at the swamp)

Oct. 14 Auburn (H) W (i think their D takes a step back next year)

Oct. 21 at Ole Miss toss up

Oct. 28 Open

Nov. 4 at Alabama L

Nov. 11 Arkansas (H) toss up (depending on how beat up we are)

Nov. 18 at Tennessee W

Nov. 25 Texas A&M (H) W (as always)

so probably 11-1 ceiling
8-4 floor

Exactly 8-4 should be considered bottom of the barrel win %. I would expect closer to 10 wins or 9 wins with a heartbreaking loss thrown in.

He shouldn't get a pass. He has inherited a loaded team. Anymore than 2 losses next season is a failure.

Explain what "getting a pass means" in your mind.

Should anyone be happy with 8-4? Absolutely not.

Should any first year head coach be fired for that? No.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what your point is.

That's not the standard for a continuity hire though, next year would have been tough for any coach because of the number of player's leaving, so he has some leeway next year.

I mean that pro-O people are already saying this should be the norm next year for one reason or another. Do you think those same people give those excuses to Herman or Jimbo? I bet not.

With our schedule next year 8-4 should be a disappointment, not what is expected. Should he be immediately fired? No, but he should be feeling the heat.

I mean the whole sell was we have the best staff, recruiting all the top talent, and keeping the best part of our current staff in place..."CONTINUITY". If that's the case he shouldn't need 3 years to do this. Based on our schedule next year he should be around 9 or 10 wins, and 2018 should be even better.
