It was always going to end this way.
It would have ended this way if we'd have gotten rid of Miles last year.

Exactly. Firing Miles without someone in place was just stupid. I, like many other, assumed someone was ready to go when the administration fired Miles mid-season. It looks like they are just working off of emotion and don't know what the heck they are doing.

When one of your choices is employed at a top 10 job and the other could have his pick of jobs, neither are going to negotiate until now anyway.
Neither Herman or Jimbo currently need LSU like say Fleck or Fedora would.

How could someone "be ready to go" four weeks into the season?? What coach worth a damn is going to agree to take a job offer in week 5?

you just don't. Unless you have your guy lined up once season is over. This isn't like we have to wait til december to enter coaching search like with saban. We have had 2 months!

You do understand that you only lock up a coach when the paper is signed. And that only happens once the coaches in contention for bowl or conference positions have finished the season.

No way an agent would tell their client to handshake a deal without having hearing all options. Just bad business.
