From the article out of Nola today, if LSU has potentially narrowed the choices to basically Jimbo and Orgeron, why is Herman out of the picture? Did he say no, I would be pursuing him from now til Christmas. The article makes it seem like a decision will be around early December which signifies to me that if they already have a date in place they are shooting for then it's probably Jimbo or waiting to see on O. I personally prefer Jimbo who is a proven HC, would love to keep O on staff as assistant HC and DL coach. But why has the admins cooled on Herman? He should be getting at least an interview, picking his brain at least!
I hope that the LSU admin and higher ups reward O for his great interim performance, BUT do not give him the job. I see LSU winning out against Florida and A&M - and then getting a Sugar Bowl invitation, and I surely hope that winning out with a team that has a potential for 3-7 first round picks doesn't paint a facade over O's coaching ability, he has been put in a great situation with the talent in place.
If Herman is out of picture, Hire Jimbo fisher, keep Aranda, and go win the sugar bowl, would be a great start to the New Years

He's going to Texas, I'd imagine. Unless they decide to keep Strong (which they should, but won't).

I think it's a combo of Jimbo being "the guy" and the likelihood that Texas and other schools will soon be in a bidding war for Tom. Herman is my favorite candidate and i hope we make an effort but if it ends with us landing Jimbo I'll be happy.

I know "sources" and all, but I remember reading something early in this process that some big time boosters were super big on Jimbo from the get-go, so a) their guy from the beginning, and b) probably seen as a safe get as opposed to Herman. Striking out on this hire would be a black eye for LSU that will take a long time to recover from.

Herman is a nice thought, but I would bet money Jimbo has been it all along.

I think Texas is a dumpster fire and I wouldn't go there. You can get comparable money and LA is a recruiting hot bed with no instate competition. Also look at all the political garabage and the Anti-Trump rainbow flag waving libs to deal with

Strong has already been told he is out! And Herman will be the next coach at UT and watch and see he is going after Aranda with a HUGE checkbook.

How is Herman a more proven coach than Jimbo? This is one of those situations that not every school gets. Do you think UF's first choice was Jim McElwain? Tennessee's was Butch Jones? How many coaches has USCw gone through? Nebraska? Miami? Michigan until Harbaugh? You see where I'm going with this? Getting Jimbo would be one of the biggest coups in college football coaching history really. Schools don't just cherry pick a coach from a school like FSU everyday.

If Aranda follows Herman to Texas. What's Bo pelini doing nowadays? Still at Youngstown state? We'd get the band back together!

Gosh I hope LSU can retain Aranda. But we are bidding against the richest program in college sports.

Say goodbye to aranda after the bowl game. Saban has his sites on him.

It seems like the tone started changing after the Bama game. O's attitude especially. I think the loss gave the boosters and the administration what they needed to make a move. It was probably what they wanted to do all along, but the loss gave them justification (at least in their mind) to make the final push. Good, bad, or indifferent, I think this was the mindset and short of O going undefeated, Jimbo was probably the target all along.

Who knows really. All speculation. We'll see I guess.

He would have to take a pay cut and Bama would be paying a pretty hefty buy out for a DC. I don't see this at all.

Saban is not going to hire Aranda. If that is the case, Saban gets a thrill out of sabatoging LSU. Would be my only reason.

Alabama is very happy with their current DC. I really doubt going after Aranda ever crossed Saban's mind.

So if Jimbo is really the guy, and let's say LSU makes him HC in early December

The real questions are who will be LSU's OC and DC (if Aranda leaves for Herman and Texas)

Btw I think we land Cam Akers if it's Jimbo
