Tim Kawakami (a respected niners beat writer) just tweeted that Payton's agent has been in touch with multiple teams this season and that his salary demands are "not low".

After days of deliberation, I'm told that #Saints coach Sean Payton isn't going anywhere. He and GM Mickey Loomis agreed he's staying. Wow

Hopefully it's not but can't say I'm too surprised if it is.

Hue Jackson would be my first choice now with Payton officially staying.

He was if the price was right and still left open the possibility. It was always a long shot. Irrelevant now.

Money was not the issue. The only way Payton was leaving if the saints would allow it. A contract is still a contract.

The talk of payton playing other teams for a raise was ludicrous. That Jimmy Sexton bullshite may work in college but it doesn't fly in the NFL.

Niner insiders now say David Shaw is a target

Rapaport might not be reliable but Kawakami definitely is. The dude has burned the bridge with the 49ers to put out stuff that scared off other beat writers on multiple occasions.

If he said Payton's agent was asking around, then I'd buy it.

Shaw is probably using this to signal his intentions to move next year. We're the practice girl.

Kinda hoping for Chip now.

I'm thinking

Chip
Jackson
Shannahan
Coughlin

I would be ok with Chip, he's a good coach just an awful GM.

Lovie Smith is an option now too, I think he got a raw deal both in Chicago and Tampa.

Lovie would be a Singletary reboot (without the pants drops).

All defense and no offense.

well right now we have no defense and no offense so this would solve at least half of it

At this point, I'd be OK with CK and CK at QB, just to see.

What is there to lose?

I know the Bay Area reporters who cover the Raiders are chirping about Hue "Action" Jackson becoming the next head coach of the 49ers.

... good luck with that.

That never happened. Saints would have had to give him permission to do so, but they did not.
