would you guys rather bring in a cfb coach or professional? (that could mean head or position or corrdinatiors)
Im gonna say professional.
I laugh and cringe when some of you bring up malazahn. seriously? This guy was coaching hs football 5 yrs ago, without cam newton nobody even knows who this guy is.
I think a young corrdinator in the NFL would be our best hire.
On the college side, Id be ok with tcu guy, pelini, and whoever is considered to be the best recruiter in the country.
Recruiting is your life blood in the sec,,, id rather be Aplus there and Cplus in coaching abilitiy.

Does not compute

LSU needs a guy that is 80% recruiter and 20% coach. If you can recruit lights out and then hire a couple of good coordinators, it's 9 wins a season guaranteed here.

Pelini would be a big mistake, what the hell has he done. His teams play just like him tight as hell and crack under pressure. They lost to the worst Texas team in 15 years on their home field and then got beat down my a 6-6 UW team they beat by 30 during the season.

I don't want pelini anywhere near Lsu

I dont have a list.. because I dont keep up with NFL that much.
But I do know there 30 something teams with a staff of what ... 8-10 coaches???
Do the math, thats a pool of 300 men that know football at its hightest level.
FWIW, I have zero problem with pelini.
I think the man knows football, I think he, with his staff could keep recruiting up,, He understands the importace of it, he has been here and has a knoweledge of this state and football programs culture.... and I believe he would run a clean program.

I'm laughing at the fact that you think nobody knew of Malzahn before Cam Newton. Do you know his accomplishmnents on the collegiate level before then?

If you didn't know who Gus Malzahn was before this year, then I don't care who is on your list because you don't keep up with football enough. You should have at least heard of him when he was hired at arKansas to secure commitments from from Mitch Mustain, Damien Williams, Cleveland and Norman. Look up his offense in Tulsa and what he did before Cam and tell me if you are still not impressed.
Malzhan will be a good head coach one day.

This is the formula to win anywhere in cfb.

FWIW, my list goes:
Patterson
Mullen
Strong
Malzahn
I left Peterson out because I really don't see him leaving Boise

quote:well, i think LSU should hire some up and comer coach. one with head coaching experience at multiple levels. one who wins all his games. and is a great recruiter. and is a wizard on at least one side of the ball. and has elite offenses or defenses. and all the players love him. and he hires great assistants. and one that would love LSU and be honored to be here.

i dont know where he is, but im sure he exists somewhere. thats how ridiculous you sound. great coaches are hard to come by. if they werent flawed, they wouldnt be on the market- theyd be locked up wit ha huge contract by another team. come up with some names so i can tear their resumes apart...

maybe so,,, however you miss the point.
LSU, IMO is at a level where we dont/shouldnt be giving first yr guys their "opportunity"
You've lost your mind or just choosing to not be honest if you don't thing Cam newton and this yr's au offense isnt the reason for the boost in Malzahn's stock.

Chris Todd, he made him look like Joe Montana based on how awful that dude was prior.
