Both long shots. Lincoln Riley, Scott Frost, Willie Taggart. Job will go to one of those unless Oregon is willing to wait out Fleck.

Right. My point is that by waiting, he's not changing anything for himself and costing himself garunteed $$$

Brohm can fall flat on his face at Purdue and he'll be $20mil richer for it. Doesn't sound too terrible to me...
Oh, I misunderstood.

just asking- what is fleck's area of expertise? what is he known for? I understand he's apparently a really good recruiter by mac standards.

jesus christ, some of you are insane, you never even heard of fleck 12 months ago now you act like hes saban. theres a new fleck every year, it was matt rhule last year, now people dont even remember he exists.

I concur. And it's far from a guarantee that Tom Herman will be the next Saban or Urban...Harbaugh is going to have to beat Meyers soon or otherwise he's can't be grouped with those elite names.

He will beat him soon. Should have this year. They dominated that game but for some boneheaded picks and shitty officiating.

And Les Miles "should have" beaten Saban some the past 5 or 6 years, but he didn't. So there's that.

WR
He was the Bucs WR coach before he got the head WMU job, played in the NFL for two years at the position and Corey Davis will be a finalist for the biletnikoff.
He often credits his staff at Western Michigan who are mostly unhearalded guys which might be a hang up with a big school if he wants to bring his entire staff

I agree that Harbaugh is better than Miles, but he's going to catch hell if he can't beat Urban. And "close" and "should have" don't count for shite.

He is not going to beat Urban for another three years and may be gone by then. This was a senior laden team with a lethal defense. OSU is really young and going to stomp people for the next two years. The offense will continue to get better, but the best Michigan fans can really hope for the next couple of years is that Mich rolls the rest of the conference and finishes 10-2/9-3-ish.

Back to Fleck. I love the guy, but he has basically risen to the top of the MAC just by being a better recruiter and out talenting the other programs. We really don't know about his X's and O's acumen. The rah rah stuff will not fly at a large school. I guess he'd be a good fit for Oregon in the sense that he might boost recruiting if Helfrich has been lacking in that department. But, I'd have reservations on his ability to beat other top schools just on energy and effort.

You don't have to interview every candidate, but I think any major college that actually has options should interview more than, say, 3? It's called due diligence.

I will bet anything that they'll interview more coaches than Alleva did.

That's what some of you don't get. It's not about any particular coach being a savior. It's about the AD doing his fricking job and making sure that LSU is hiring the very best candidate available.

You're right about "close" and "should have" don't count for shite however Harbaugh will win the Big 10 within two years. He is too good of a coach with too good of talent to perpetually lose to Urban. Les had only one of these attributes. Hint: talent

Scott Frost isn't getting the job. Taggart and Riley are on the outside looking in but do tell me more. I could see Taggart out of the three but we'll get Harsin before those other two.
