skip to 20 seconds in and listen to Fleck's speech & imagine him saying Baton Rouge not Kalamazoo. You'll get chills i promise.

The more and more I read and listen to this guy the higher he ascends up the pecking order. He is risky for an LSU type program now and probably needs a mid step up but he could be worth the risk. He has a ton of potential and I might just take the gamble on him. I will be following Western Michigan closely.

I just don't understand this line of thinking. Why? because others repeat the same silly stuff.
Bob stoops had zero h.c. experience when he took over at Oklahoma. P.J. fleck has three years.
Mark Richt- had zero h.c. experience before Georgia. Kirb Smart after him.
David Shaw-had zero h.c. experience before Stanford.
Chip Kelley had zero h.c. experience before Oregon.
I could go on and on.
People love Herman with good reason. However, when you look at Herman and you look at P.J. Fleck, There is little to no difference in the resume. So Fleck hasn't been coordinator, neither were Meyer, Harbaugh, or Swinny. Didn't seem to stop them from becoming great coaches.

I'm complimenting the guy not bashing him, if Western Michigan continues to have an unbelievable year he gets an interview and we go from there. He is definitely right now in my top 5
In no particular order
Chip Kelly
Jimbo Fisher
Tom Herman
PJ Fleck
Bobby Petrino

Good comments , PJ is certainly impressive and deserves an interview. I like the top 5 you have except maybe Petrino , don't know if I like the baggage. Look for Larry Fedora as a wild card.

I'm starting to warm up to the idea. He's not a sexy name but damn if you do some research into the guy it's hard not to like what you see. The guy is one hell of a communicator.
I think if he gets an interview, all bets are off. I feel like he could blow away an AD in an interview.

When you watch Fleck's interview, sounds a lot like saban. One game, preparing for pressure, bringing outside resources, n.f.l. g.m's to teach and learn, it's about a process, etc.
I won't lie, I saw this immediately.
The hand gestures, the cadence, the attention to detail, etc...
I think he's a star in the making.

I really want to know what our true list looks like at the moment. I'm glad we got rid of Les, but all of the anticipation and build up to naming a new HC is turning me into a crazy person.

Your head is not really Ironhead at all!

if we whiff on herman and fisher i hope he gets a look
one issue (variable?) would be that if we get past herman/jimbo, i can see the boosters making requirements of the HC (like you keep aranda, raymond, etc). fleck would have to be cool with that

I Think one of Flecks benefits is that he wouldn't be very picky in a situation like that. LSU could make him jump through every hoop and he would jump with a smile on his face because the job is so good for him.
My only issue with my issue with him is the little tidbit I read where when he started at WMU, he recinded every scholarship offer to players a few weeks before signing day
His reasoning was "I want kids that want to be here and I wanted them to come to my office and bang on the desk to get their scholarship" basically
They noted that it was during a no contact period of recruiting so they couldn't do that if they wanted to
The media would love the guy. He's open as all frick. He knows what to say and when to say it

I can't say i disagree with this. My brain is fried trying to piece the puzzle together. And just think, it's only been a few weeks. We've still got a month and a half to go.

Yeah, it's one of those things where he might be offended on principle, which i couldn't blame him for...at the same time i also have a hard time seeing someone objecting to keeping Dave Aranda.

If he's not flexible on stuff like that, then do we really want him?
I mean we just got rid of a guy that was committed to "his guys" and it cost him his job. I want a guy that wants the best guys, not just "his guys"

Well if i were a coach I would probably take the attitude that i know better than an administrator who good assistants are, and also wouldn't like being micromanaged right out of the gate.

Virtually every coach, including Herman and Jimbo, will be strongly encouraged to keep Aranda and certain recruiting guys.
PJ Fleck of all people isn't going to have a choice.
