Perhaps Orgeron knew that Kiffin was not as in-demand as a head coach

Kiffin could still land a position, but he has been a slam dunk for every job so far and whiff.

Many people thought Kiffin's past baggage may be too heavy for him to get back as a head coach. Perhaps O knew that as well and was content to see Lane make attempts, but hold a spot for him?

He should know a lot about not being in demand as a head coach.

Regardless, he should also know that, if Kiffin does come here this year, he probably won't even stay here a year; he'll be gone before next season's bowl game at the first HC gig he can get.

Why go through all the trouble to make the athletes learn an offense that he knows will very likely change after one year? I don't get it.

Why would he be any more in demand next year?

The guy is a 3-time loser as a head coach.

Good point. LSU has made good coordinators look bad for about 10 years now.

They have a mutual respect so of course O is waiting bc if Kiffin doesn't get the HC job of his liking, he will be here. Kiffin has this really weird thing about being treated like shite so O is treating with him a bit of professional respect. Crazy idea but it might work

So he wants to bring him here?

We're also finding out Les Miles isn't all that in-demand, but that doesn't mean he should have been retained. Theres usually a good reason someone isnt in-demand.

Sounds like O is doing for Kiffin what Miles did for Cam?? Bring an unemployed friend to work day. And that wasn't good either

I think a lack of demand for a coach as a HC is a little different than their demand as a OC.

I think there would be plenty of demand for Kiffin as an OC.

Which is exactly how every other team will recruit against LSU.

"Are you really thinking about LSU? You're a [insert offensive position here], and you know they are more likely than not having their OC leaving after one or two years. Is that the stability you want developing you for the NFL?"

That is the stupidity that Alleva and O have with this supposed stupid plan. Hire guys that will only be here short term and it will start hurting recruiting really fast. Hire a guy with offensive background that is the overall brains of it, and you don't have this problem.

Dude, Saban has gone through like 5 OC's since he's been at Bama.

If you have success, your coordinators will be in demand. It happens everywhere. If your coordinators aren't in demand, it's a pretty good indication that you suck.
