The pricetag. He's a great coach and all but 6.5m+ seems a bit steep. It seems like his best years at FSU are behind him so demanding that kind of money when you've been trending downward a little seems a bit ridiculous. Who knows, maybe he just needs a change of scenery? Not going to speculate how well he'll do over here but 6.5m+ means failure will not be tolerated.

I'm not a Miles fan at all but if you told me we could have a nearly 80% winrate, 3 division champs, 2 SEC champs, 2 playoff appearances and 1 NC over the next 10 years for only $4m I think most people would consider it looking at what we're paying our next HC.

To clarify, not saying he won't do well or isn't worth it but at that pricetag he won't be given much slack.

If that's true, why would we have to pay him more to come to a better opportunity?

I feel ya on the money, but this is the trend in college football. Unless the sport declines in popularity I don't see that changing any time soon.

Do y'all not understand how this works?? There are many factors besides him simply taking the job. He has to be paid more to leave for several reasons, mostly economics. He is a commodity and if we want to get him from where he is, we have to pay him more. He has a child in Florida. His life is there. He has to be paid to change all that. It's not as simple as him saying "LSU is great. I'll go there."

I get that but if he has a couple 2-3 loss seasons and no meaningful hardware within the next 3-4 seasons will we be happy paying what we are for those results? You really don't get much leeway at that price.

I will root for fisher if he comes to lsu but I'm not a fan at all of the hire. Honestly he is very far down on my list and that's not even going into the price tag and buy out

Please explain. He meets and exceeds so many of the requirements I'd love to hear the logic behind your opinion.

Why is everyone so concerned about the salary? Anyone here paying for it out of their pockets? Do you think it makes LSU look better nationally to have a highly paid coach or to go cheap? We don't need this football program looking any more of a laughing stock then it already does.

No he doesn't he has played in a very weak acc with top talent in the conference for most those years. Now the only team that should be in the ball park with Florida state is clemson. The Florida state team with Winston was absolutely loaded but take those 2 years away and what year have they done anything that was better than expected. Most years they do worse than expected. I see no reason to pay the salary that it will take to get him, when he has never really over performed and he rebuilt a program that was a monster. It's not like he's doing this at Virginia tech or anything. It's Florida state

If going to pay that type of salary don't you think you should have one of the best coaches in the business. He's not in the ball park of urban or nick so why should you pay him like he is? If you pay him like he's urban or nick it's just not smart at all and your overspending.

True, very true! Now break down Miles record from 2012-2016 and include the SEC contests in a separate line and how he did. You will understand then why he wasn't worth $4.2mil per year!

I am not saying Fisher is worth $6.5mil per year because I don't, but Miles wasn't worth $4.2mil per year. Eventually every job comes down to "what have you done for me lately!!!!"
