It's obvious he wants to be a head coach again. So we hire him install his O and he leaves us after last game or SEC championship to go coach somewhere else.
WE need a hot young OC on the way up who will not be considered for big D1 coaching jobs so we get three to four years out of him...

All the hot young names will be considered for head coaching jobs. Unfortunately, without an X's and O's type coach at the head, you're gonna need low flight risk washed up x coaches.

So you want O to hire a young, successful OC but not one too successful because you don't want another team to hire him away. Yeah that'll be easy to find.

Whoever comes in and makes the LSU passing offense look functional will be up for a head job.

Kiffin would be good to bring in to give the recruits and the program a little excitement coming off of three SEC titles and a NC. I would not have a problem bringing him in for one year.

If he were to leave after one year, we just bring in one of the other guys we're looking at.

ETA: I do think he's the favorite for the Houston job, though.

This is how I know O is in over his head. Zero foresight to consider Kiffin. Even if he could get him he's a short timer. Kiffin never made sense.

Ah, so you finally see the problem. This will always be the deal with O. If you want a great offensive mind, you fricking hire him as your head coach so your offense is not at the whim of the coaching carousel.

If everything goes according to plan, best case scenario is that you're switching out OCs every couple of years. And we've already seen that things don't exactly go according to plan with this regime.

It's one of the reasons I like Helfrich because with him being fired from Oregon he's not going to be getting any head coaching job offers for the next few years. I still have Kiffin as the #1 guy to get though right now.

Because he has proven he is good at transitioning teams from the powerI to the spread(see Alabama).

I agree that hiring an OC that will only stay one year is idiotic.

The same reason we hired a HC completely reliant on his coordinators.... Stupidity. But now we have no choice. It's either hire elicite coordinators that won't stick around for very long or be a bottom dweller of college football (seriously could happen either way).

Since you "obviously" know what's going on, please elaborate more. Clown.

It was prophesied in The Binder in the chapter Wet Dream 1:1. So it has to be true. The Great High Priest Alleva and his alter boy would never speak untruths to the masses.
