Strong may be a good coach, but he doesn't fit at Texas. He's too introverted

This whole situation reminds me of UK when they hired BCG. Got shot down from a couple of feelers, panicked, hired a guy that was an introvert and that hated the "celebrity" status that was involved. He folded. Charlie may not, but it sure is a possibility.

ANyone who thinks this isn't a fantastic hire for UT is delirious. Strong is on his way to being a top 5 coach in the country.

You're an idiot!!! I bet you were like "That's So Smart & Great Fit!!!" when Michigan hired Brady Hoke... Since it's Strong going to Texas though you like "Mediocre"
How is someone who can pull all the Texas and Florida talent they want and is a proven Coach a mediocre hire?

Maybe that's what they want at this time.

Like Hoke and Michigan. Not a great fit.

I was referring to the fact that similar circumstances have been looked at as making sense and a good thing... also Brian Kelly of Notre Dame working his way up or Kill at Minnesota working his way up through substance not just being given jobs but since its Strong going to Texas its MEDIOCRE... Right!!!

I think Charlie is a very good coach, but I still think that we don't know how good he is. He did great at UL, but they played nobody 11 games a year, so it's kind hard to gauge that honestly. He recruited Florida well and got Bridgewater to come to UL and it paid off big time.
Texas is a fertile recruiting ground, and with Charlie's background in defense, you should see Texas rise up, but I am going to take a wait and see attitude about it.

IMO, this hire will be made or broken based on who they hire as an OC. If they retain Major Applewhite, they might as well crank up their next coaching search.
