I think this is the best part. Pay him to prove it for two more years than provide an opportunity for a long term extension or he leaves for a HC role. Woodward didn’t throw out the 5 or 7 year plan to overextend us.

True but don't care. Haven't seen a buyout number stop us from doing whatever we want yet.

He is a coordinator he wasn’t getting 5-7 years. These contracts are essentially year to year anyway.

I may be wrong here but isn’t 3 more or less what all the coordinators have been getting under woodward?

If Baker is as big of a success as we hope he can be he will be a HC in 2 years.

If he gets the defense back to LSU standards, he'll get a really good power 5 head coaching job. 3 years fine for the contract

That’s cause they’re standard

He had 3 more on his contract with Mizzou is my understanding.

2023 - 2.0 Mil
2024 - 2.1 Mil
2025 - 2.2 Mil

6.3 Mil not including any performance bonuses

Or something like that

LSU is straight 2.5 for 3 as I understand it so 7.5 Mil in the same period. About a 19% bump over the three years and 25% bump in year one.

That sounds like the type of inducement required to pull someone from a job they really like to a place where traditional expectations will be much higher and perhaps the fanbase is a little saltier.

Assistant contracts are always 3 years.

Why are we paying House for another 2 years?

The initial terms are rarely the issue. It’s the (often) unnecessary extensions that put ADs in a bind

This. If he gets the job done, we probably only have him for 2 years. 3 at most. That’s not a problem, either.
