SIAP

With Canada being the new OC, does he bring in his guys (if he has any) or do we stick with the coaches we already have on staff?

What changes do you propose? I like who we already have on staff for offense coaches.

I like the staff we have assembled, as well, minus Grimes on occasions. I was mostly curious if Canada would want to bring in his own guys

Coach O does the hiring and firing and not the OC.

Lmao you don't think the OC has a say in any of the position coaches?

I don't know about Grimes yet. If Miles messed with playcalling, he sure as hell stuck his nose in the position group he played.

Ensminger is staying. Craig is the Recruiting Coordinator. That leaves OL Coach and Running Back Coach. The Running Back Coach is from New Orleans area. Maybe Grimes??

I'd like to see Esminger coach OL and find a new TE coach/good recruiter.

ETA: Even if he's never coached OL before, he's handled taking over the OC position on the fly beautifully. I've really liked his playcalling. Seems like an intelligent guy and I bet he could bring a lot of value to that postion.

Nah man. OL needs to be coached by someone with experience. It's not somewhere you can just put big bodies and have success.

It's a tough position to be in regarding potential changes. Grimes actually turned the OL around this year, and is a great OL recruiter.

Ironically, Ensminger is the question mark, because I think we need a QB coach. However, the dude did such a great job with the OC and QB positions this year, maybe he could just slide into that job.

I'd like to see 2 guys (and a shadow staff) coaching QBs and get rid of the TE coach.

It's the stupidest thing in the world to have a TEs coach. One day with the o-line and one day with the receivers (or in Miles' offense 10 days with the o-line and 1 with the receivers)

Can you imagine we've often had an OC splitting time coaching the QB and then had a one coach designated to the TEs??? It's retarded.

Canada went to Pitt without changing any of the existing staff. He is very likely to do the same at LSU.

Certainly not their 1st year when they have never worked with them. Since Miles was hired:

Pelini
Crowton
Kragthorpe
Chavis
Cameron
Steele
Aranda's

So, we have hired 7 outside coordinators in the past 12 seasons. Added up, they have brought a grand total of zero position coaches with them. I'm not sure where this myth came from, but it's ridiculous.

It's strange but I agree. Grimes is almost an unknown after.. what.. 2 years now?
He's certainly been a pretty good recruiter. His product has been a little underwhelming, but no where near enough to give him the boot already.. Especially with Austin Deculus a couple of months away from signing at a huge position of need.

I'm not saying that Canada has any influence (besides maybe a suggestion) in getting rid of Grimes, but he's not going anywhere, at least this year.

FIFY

They aren't going to risk this class by letting him go before NSD, and for sure not before Deculus enrolls.

Has to wait until after NSD or we might lose Deculus and Stewart. They are the "Can't afford to Lose" guys in the "OL rebuild to SEC Championship" standards.

Grimes is responsible for the current state of the OL in both personnel and recruiting.

I'd love to see an experienced and proven OL Coach in here that will teach a playable scheme and recruit SEC Caliber OL's. That's not being done now...............

Canada made it clear in an interview yesterday that coach O is responsible for coaching changes. I wouldn't be surprises if O did replace Grimes. He should wait until after nsd though.
