In no particular order:

1. Anthony Grant(VCU)-arguably the hottest young coach in the country; was supposed to take over for Billy D. had he left for Orlando

2. Kevin Stallings(Vandy)-has done a phenomenal job at Vandy, considering the academic restrictions; well-respected and always mentioned as a candidate for jobs

3. Johnny Jones(North Texas)-IMO, he was the "fall guy" for the Lester Earl scandal; has done a good job at UNT and took them to the NCAAs last year; deserves at least a courtesy call, being an alum

Let me know what ya'll think.

This list looks good. I especially like this. This guy is very underrated. He has done really well at Vandy.

I REALLY like this idea.

Others to consider:

Tom Crean
John Calipari (I know, but LSU ould give more $$$)

I know this sounds crazy, but how about Dickerson at Tulane? Anybody who can lead TU to victories over Auburn, UGA, and St. Johns with Tulane this year deserves a lot of credit. I know Brady couldn't.

If we could get either of them, LSU would be a legit top 10 program most years. We wouldn't pay the kind of money it would take to get these guys though.

My top 3.

others to consider:

Dickerson (Tulane)
Johnny Dawkins (Duke)
Scott Drew (Baylor) I'm ready for this guy to stop stealing the talent up in North La.

Coach K is getting old, when he is done, look for Dawkins to take over there.

Dawkins would be a legit candidate IMO. Coach K is going to be at Duke for a while, and I know Dawkins wants a head coaching position.

I heard Dawkins was going to be Coach K's successor. Why would he leave a guaranteed great job at Duke and risk not succeeding at LSU then people questioning whether or not he is the right guy for the job at Duke?

If he wants to wait, it will be 10 years minumum IMO. He could come to LSU and prove his merit, before going back to Duke. I have heard it mentioned on occasion that he really wants a head coaching job.

I just don't see it. He loves coaching, he is only 60 right now. I'd be surprised if he retired anytime soon. He has been extremely impressive with the coaching so far this season. If the Blue Devils play the entire season like they have up to this point, he could win another Coach of the Year award.

Any big name coach or truly hot upcoming coaching prospect will not want the LSU job. I'd love it if LSU could get Anthony Grant but why would he take that job. He knows something better will come along and he could have that job. LSU will have to either gamble with a relative unknown HC or assistant or go the retread route.

LSU's basketball head coaching job is a better one than most of us will acknowledge. We don't have the best facilities or pay, but we have recruiting advantages that could turn into a winning program.

I follow basketball some. Only LSU and their opponents mostly (SEC). Are Stallings and Jones really big name coaches or hot young coaches? I can see Grant, but are the other two really way out of reach? Even Grant needs experience somewhere and I don't care if he leaves LSU in 5 years. In college sports today that's the typical stay.
