Come on man. This is Les we are talking about. And no one else in D1 likely gives Henson a shot as OC besides Les, so he would be willing to take the job. It makes too much sense not to happen.

This would be like hiring Tepper after his LSU stint.

take my advice from earlier in thread, no point in stressing over what puppet he places in the OC chair. A trained monkey can pick from the 10 plays Les allows his OC to run.

You realize he is wearing a Mizzou shirt and they are the worst offense in that nation, right?

Henson as OC:
2013 - 16th
2014 - 98th
2015 - 125th

Just what we want...

Not really considering the dumpster fire situation that we are in. Lets play devil's advocate here.

quote:

he was promoted to offensive coordinator in December of 2012.

That decision to promote internally by Pinkel paid off handsomely in 2013, as Henson oversaw an offense which was undoubtedly one of the most improved in the nation, and which played a critical role in Mizzou’s 12-2 championship season.

Henson made subtle tweaks to Mizzou’s spread offense after taking over the reins, and it led to the Tigers posting one of the most balanced and potent attacks in the country. Just a few of MU’s national ranks in various categories included: 13th in scoring (after ranking 80th in 2012) at 39.1 points per game, 16th in total offense (96th in 2012) at just under 500 yards per game, 16th in rushing (88th in 2012) and 34th in passing efficiency, a year after ranking just 103rd nationally in that category.

The Tiger offensive line made huge strides in 2013, and that certainly was a key to Mizzou’s success. Senior LT Justin Britt won 1st-Team All-SEC honors by the Associated Press, becoming the first MU tackle to win A.P. first-team conference honors since Rob Droege in 2003. Senior LG Max Copeland became a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, given annually to the nation’s top player who began his career as a walk-on. Britt went on to become the highest drafted offensive lineman of the Pinkel era, going in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft to the Seattle Seahawks with the 64th overall pick.

LSU's 2015 offensive statistics:
71st in total offense
116th (&statistically worse than Tulane) in passing offense
17th in rushing offense
116th in reciving

I didn't pay too much attention to Mizzou, but in 2012 Mizzou average ~218 pyd/game, 139 ryd/game, & 25.8 pts/game. Then in 2013 they were a top ten offense averaging 250pyds/game, 238ryds/game, & 39pts/game Ranked 102 in 2012 & ranked 10th in 2013. Those 2013 numbers are very similar to what LSU was averaging when were at our best this year. Brandon Harris's 3 best games ( USCe, UF, & WKU) he averaged ((228 + 202 + 286)/3) = 238.7yds/game. LF's highest single game total was 244yds @ Syracuse , and on the season we average 245yds/game. So if you get Harris to average 240yds/game & LSU's rushing attack to average 240yds/game for a whole season than we would be unstoppable. Plus he has worked for Les, and was our recruiting coordinator for the #9 class in '06, #5 class in '07, & #12 class in '08. So he would be a good recruiting addition to pair with Les, Wilson, Orgeron, & Steele. He was also our TE's coach from '05 -'08 and IIRC our tight ends were an important part of our O & that is something that we would all like back.

So this would be a good hire for us.

ETA: Was too busy looking up stats that I forgot to put lets play devils advocate. I absolutely do not want Henson.

You posted stats from 2013.

Missouri had arguably the worst offense in the country this year and was bad last year as well. Their fanbase wants his head on a pike.

They went like 3 or 4 games without a touchdown. Think about that.

Yes, because that was his first and best season and he turned Mizzou into a top offense. Plus those stats are almost identical to what LSU's offensive stats were. When LSU put up those statistics and LSU was ranked #2 and everyone was nutting in their pants this season. So it is possible to for LSU to achieve those type of numbers and if LSU averages those statistics we win the national championship.

Missouri had arguably the worst offense in the country this year and was bad last year as well.

2015:
Missouri: 165pyds/game, 114.6ryds/game, 280yds/game, 13.6pts/game, & 125th in total offense
LSU: 173 pyards/game, 245ryds/game, 419yds/game, 30.7pts/gane, & 71st in total offense

The difference in Mizzou's 2015 and LSU's 2015 offense was LF7 and LSU rushing game.
2015 offensive stats
2014:

Missouri: 189pyds/game and 81st in passing offense, 179ryds/game, 367yds/game, 27.8 pts/game & the 67th ranked offense
LSU: 163pyds/game and 109th in passing offense, 224 ryds/game, 387yds/game, 27.6 yds/game and #75 in total offense.
2014 offensive stats

2013:
Missouri: 252.9pyds/game, 237ryds/game, 491 total yds/game, 39.1 pts/game, & 10th in total offense
LSU: 251pyds/game, 202.3ryds/game, 453yds/game, 35.8pts/game, & #33 in total offense.
2013 offensive stats

Did you pay any attention to Mizzou this year or did you just google their stats? Mizzou lost its 3 starting WRs from 2014, lose 4 starters in the Kentucky game, starting qb suspended for the USCe game, and eventually the whole season, and head coach diagnosed with cancer before season. So Mizzou was a shitshow for alot of reasons.

So 2 out of 3 seasons, Mizzou has been better than LSU on offense. Since Les Miles is not going to go out hire an outside the box OC, this is about as good as LSU could and will do. Do I like it? Not at all, but that is just the way the cookie will crumble. I am just trying to find the good in any potential hire.

I would prefer someone who has never worked with Miles.

We dont only need a new OC, we need a new offensive philosophy.

Are you serious? LOLOLLOLOLOLOLOL

Since he came to Mizzou, the offense got progressively worse to the point it was historically record breaking bad.

yet you want him?

Take him now!!!! Please God!!!

And he progressively got worse the following two years culminating in the nations worst offense in 2015?

So they were a whole lot worse than us?

You don't want an OC that doesn't need one of the best running backs on earth to succeed?

quote:

Missouri: 189pyds/game and 81st in passing offense, 179ryds/game, 367yds/game, 27.8 pts/game & the 67th ranked offense
LSU: 163pyds/game and 109th in passing offense, 224 ryds/game, 387yds/game, 27.6 yds/game and #75 in total offense.

So in 2014, when they had all these starters and a healthy HC, they averaged 50 yards less and .2 points more per game than the worst offense LSU has had in my lifetime...against an easier schedule?

Nobody thinks its going to happen, but doesnt change the fact that its what we need.

My only hope is that last week was a wake up call for Miles. But knowing his stubborn ways, he'll probably view the outpouring of love as reinforcement that he's doing everything right.

If Les hires Josh Henson I will fricking lose it.

If he wants his job after next year there is no way he hires the guy orchestrating the worst offense in college football. He is stupid, but he isn't brain dead, right?

Missouri fans want him fired ASAP.

ETA:

That hire would be worse than Kevin Steele and that was an all-time bad hire. I can't believe I'm sitting here arguing with someone that thinks Josh Henson is a good OC candidate for us. That is absolutely mind blowing. He is horrible. Absolutely horrible. Loathed by his own fan base.

Josh Henson and Cam Cameron will be co-offensive coordinators after Frank Wilson leaves LSU for Tulane. Peveto will be promoted to co-defensive coordinator alongside Steele.

There's our coaching changes.
