Since we dont have a good established thread here, thought I'd get one started. Feel free to add whatever rumors you come across but please don't try to derail it into another Egg Bowl thread. Here are some things I'm hearing:
Was told last week that Chadwell and Fritz's agents said no.
I am confident Jeff Lebby has interviewed.
Jon Sumrall is likely to interview but this one wouldn't move quickly. There's a lot of buzz around Mark Stoops eyeing another job (Iowa) and Kentucky is the job that Sumrall wants. It's unlikely Iowa announces anything on Ferentz until after the Big 10 title game.
Barry Odom is a back-pocket candidate. He wants it but State is shooting for what they perceive to be bigger.

Lebby is the name I've heard the most. I thought he was interviewing Friday but looks like he came in today.

I don't think you appreciate the roster situation in Starkville. It is easily the second worst in the conference next to Vanderbilt. They have absolutely nothing in the pipeline. And the worst NIL program to boot.
They're looking at a major rebuild there and they could be historically bad while that is underway.
Plus the State of MS can only offer 4 year contracts by law. So no coach can be guaranteed much in the way of a runway to build the program.

Even before the transfer portal a good coach could turn around a program within a year or two. Crooms won one SEC game his last year and two years later, Mullen had State finishing in the final polls at #15. Your post seems like wish casting.

The portal is tied to NIL. State has the worst NIL game in town.

Nope. Been here a long time and read hundreds of post similar to yours about various teams on coaching changes. Many of which have been wrong.
