include having a kicker who is shaky beyond 50 yards kicking a career long

So attempting just one 50 yard FG in his one year of being the starting kicker and missing equals shaky?

He was 4/5 from 40 plus this year and that kick was in a dome. They saw him kick all week long beforehand and clearly he was having enough success from deep that they thought he could hit it. I know that he's done it in warm ups at Kyle b/c I've seen it. It's not like it wasn't even close either. It barely missed clearing the bar.

shite, if he hits that kick he likely is kicking to win the game on that final possession.

Very few MAC coached have jumped straight to P5, and none of them had the publicity and hype at their MAC school that Fleck has had. As long as he wins he will stay hot. Jumping into a lower end B1G job can kill your career with the quickness

I can name 4.

Nick Saban - Toledo to Michigan State
Brian Kelly - Central Michigan to Cincinnati (BCS)
Dave Doering - Northern Illinois to N.C. State
Dino Babers - Bowling Green to Syracuse

Minnesota's division is the weaker of the two in the Big 10...

They're both in the same division...? Am I missing something?

The Western Division is much weaker than the East, making it far more feasible to win a Division title when you don't always have to play Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan State every season.

Ever since the Big Ten went to geographic divisions, the East has won every title game (Ohio State in 2014, Michigan State in 2015, Penn State in 2016)

It's not like Minnesota is a bad job now.
There's players talking about mass transfers. No way should fleck touch that job.

I am well-aware that the East is better than the West, but you quoted a post that asked why P.J. Fleck would pass on Purdue and jump at Minnesota, so I was a bit confused as to what you were initially implying since Minnesota and Purdue are in the same division.

Just talking about it.

Baylor had a lot of recruits decommit, but there wasn't a mass exodus of current players. Penn State only had 9 transfers after the NCAA hammered them, even though they were free to leave without having to sit out a year.

I thought Fleck was a great recruiter and motivator. Seems like he'd be able to keep Minnesota together.

Sumlin would have to do without his pool boy if he moves to the Frozen Tundra. His wife may veto that move.

Considering the circumstances behind the firing, would they replace this guy with the guy who gave us Johnny Football, Kenny Trill and Speedy Noil?

Would that be Mike Sherman or Tom Rossley? Manziel redshirted during the 2011 season; the season prior to Sumlin.

But he would have been a footnote with Sherman. Sumlin turned him into the monster he became on the field. He lets the kids be kids. That's the point. One of the problems with the program is the lack of intensity and football IQ.

According to tRant all of the credit goes to the guy that recruited him, not the guy that coached him.
