Miles Turned Down More Money to Stay at LSU
No freaking way this happened!!!
The Michigan Boards were saying he was offered way les just to appease some Michigan higher ups.
They never wanted him or expected him to accept the ridicoulsy(sp) low amount he was offered.
No way this happened!!! No way!
Coach Miles is the shite!!!!!
We love you Coach Miles!!!
quote:
Miles was hired Wednesday as Oklahoma State's football coach, ending a wild week in which the job first was accepted by the leading candidate and then rejected hours later. In taking the job, Miles turned down a financial package worth about $700,000, saying nearly half should go toward assistant coaches' salaries. He said he would be happy with $400,000. "I've never heard of that before," said athletic director Terry Don Phillips.
With Miles it is about the money.

Usually this kind of bullshite hatred for Miles is reserved for the Rant.
I havent heard this much "truth" since I last went to the OP.

I don't give out too much info on here, but its still fun to read some of these people that have no clue.
People just don't know some coaches, they don't know what they are thinking.

can you show me how the BOS knew of an offer?
i admit, had UM written down the offer, and miles took it to them, then they knew of the offer
otherwise, how could the BOS prove it?

haha I dont even have a kid and definitely dont live in a trailer, whos the one making shite up again?
Youre truly delusional if you think hed turn down 5 for 25 at Michigan with assurances of not being pushed out like RR. This is what I was alluding to.

give Miles such a lucrative deal. Miles is laughing every night. He can give us the 8-9 wins a year, and there is not one damn thing LSU can do to change it

I call Bull chit. No friggin way Michigan made an additional offer. Miles has lied in the past, and I would not put it beyond him telling that chit now. Look how quick they offered Hoke! I don't think Miles was a true option. He was no more than a formality. Only LSU would give Miles such a lucrative deal. Miles is laughing every night. He can give us the 8-9 wins a year, and there is not one damn thing LSU can do to change it without costing at least $15 million. Miles could be fired in the 6th year, & still walk away with $6 million.
there have been quite a few breakthroughs in therapy for perpetual victimhood syndrome...you should check it out

I didn't say he would - I said he could.

it is all but impossible for the LSU BOS to know miles was offered more money
Yeah, you would know much more or have better sources than the LSU BOS.

his agent he had a big offer, but that's a far cry from knowing the offer was legit
Schools always hold up picking their HC so they can made a few non-legit offers to coaches they pay well know visits to in the 11th hour of their search cause being turned down is such a positive PR move.
Stop, you are making my sides hurt.

Miles would not have been given a 7-year contract from Michigan. He also assured himself of a fat buyout if he gets fired a few years into it. You guys are always wanting to fire him at some point each year.

FAIL!
The new buyout was lowered.
Posted on 1/16/11 at 3:09 pm to Geaux Tahel
Does not matter. The more years and buyout is financially better than anything Michigan could have offered him. This is a school that could afford to hire their first choice due to finances (as reported by ESPN).

I am in the camp that believes he was offered a decent contract, but to say it's not possible this information is fluff to build up the reputation of a coach who is relatively beleaguered despite his success makes total sense. Especially when they quickly sign him to a 7-year deal soon afterwards.
I don't get how TD posters don't understand that Mile's contract ran through 2014. He had a automatic 1 year rollover from this year's record and the AD has the authority to do a 1 year rollover each year that he collects 8 or more wins. He didn't get those the last two years, so the AD simply gave him the two years of rollovers for those years. That takes him to 2017. He did not get a new 7 year contract. He got the rollovers he thought he'd earned plus some additional incentives.

True, but that was what was publicized immediately after the ordeal with UM, so it feels like fresh information again. Positive, "fresh" information ---> positive PR move

JC... he got a large offer.
