Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't coaches do this semi-regularly? Flirt with another school, get the ESPN rumor mill cooking, and then renegotiate their contract for more money? Chavis did it last year.

Let me know if I'm way off the mark.

not impossible, and maybe with any other place besides UM, I would suspect it, but I doubt it right now

Maybe since it is UM, its Miles only real opportunity to play this game.

I would say yes, when you're grossly underpaid and overperforming. We had a good year, but we hadn't been top 4 since 07 and he's #4 at the bank.

I just feel like nobody is considering the fact that Alleva could throw a ridiculous amount of money in Les' face, and nobody in Louisiana would complain. This state breathes LSU football. But I don't think Michigan is in the same situation.

If he is just trying to pull more money out of LSU, he needs to go. I hope Alleva tells him no.

Doubt it. If anything he was running away from the UM coaching situation before the Cotton Bowl.

He didn't do anything to solicit this attention. What makes people think that he's angling for more cash?

I know that they have the means, and from all indications they are going to have the will this time. I could be wrong, but didn't they buy RR out of WV?

You cannot blame someone for wanting to make more money. What if he's seriously considering UM, but more money would keep him here.

Then he needs to go. If we have to bribe him to stay with ridiculous amounts to keep him here, because his heart is in Michigan, then he can get on the next flight to Ann Arbor. I don't want a coach who doesn't have his heart into LSU.

Bingo! This is not about the money to me. We owe Les a cool 18 million. Les should not get a dime till he decides where he wants to be. He is either at LSU or he isn't.

alleva needs to give him an ultimatum right now - commit to the program or get the frick out.

You obviously havent been paying attention to the state budget cuts etc. Miles-at this point-should not and will not get a raise. If he wins a NC next year by all means bump him up but with the economy and the education cuts he wont get bumped up.

You realize that the AD and University are financially divorced? That the AD is unaffected by budget cuts, and actually contributes money to the University?

And they aren't concerned about the "perception" of giving someone a raise during budget cuts. This is football we're talking about.

In the Wednesday press conference the AD said that the program would move away from Michigan's frugal tendencies and pay up to what the markets dictate (many of the SEC coaches are making 5+ million). I think the program realizes it can not compete in today's world of college football paying half of what the top coaches are getting.

Money is not an issue, Michigan has alot of it.

Everybody wants more money, but I don't think Les is going to get any more at LSU or Michigan. I have a hard time believing there going to pay 4 million and the 1.5 million buyout, and I don't think LSU would pay anymore. Maybe we'd pay him a few extra thousand a year and throw a bone to his assistants, but other than that...
