Mel Tucker isn't a bad coach at all.

I know you guys want the next Saban, but this guy took a rock bottom Michigan State team and has them in the hunt right now.

Isn't what we want someone who can come in and have success immediately? He checks that box.

Not saying he's my first choice , but I wouldn't be upset at all. He wouldn't lose the team the way O did either.

He’s black so unfortunately unless he is the best candidate available by far and undeniably they will say he is a diversity hire if it happens

I mean he looks like a damn good coach to me. And hes ..you know, involved in games with a playsheet.

Unlike our current HC.

It's impressive considering the state of Mich State before him

Yeah and even if their schedule has been week, they went from well under .500 for the last 3-4 years (one with him) vs that same schedule to seemingly being at least a 9-10 win team in one year

Truth be told, if not for Nebraska self-destructing in the final 3 minutes the Spartans would've lost that game. They had something like 12 total yards in the 2nd half.

True but Nebraska is a half decent team this year, they really just struggle in crunch time

He's never finished a season with a winning record as a HC.

He will this year, but the O/U on remaining wins is 1.5.

Regardless of his coaching prowess, he hasn’t proven he’s ready for the big time yet.

The Big 10 was way more competitive when Saban was at Michigan State. The conference is a shell of its former self now.

Franklin and Tucker should not be candidates. Not impressed with either.

He's well on his way to the big time at this rate.

The phrase "one year" keeps popping up in every discussion about his success this...one year.

Michigan St has been a solid program before though.

Mel Tucker has been fired for his defenses before, no?

Miles and O can walk in and have succes then almost anybody can. Can we not aim higher for once? Good grief.

I would be even more disappointed than when Alleva hired O.

I would be absolutely disappointed if they settled on a beyond meh hire yet again with a guy like freaking Tucker.

I was dismissive at first as well but I’ve looked a little closer at him and see there’s some definite upside.

Would not be my first choice but would definitely be better than like a Jimbo or some kind of hire like that.

I’m not a “You better hire my pick or else!” kinda guy. I was like that with the last search. It’s pointless. So if they hire Tucker I will have to just hope it was with good reason. We don’t have any control over this shite anyway.

I do know i feel very happy that an actual search is happening this time.
