So it is known that these two have a strong relationship, at least professionally, but what ramifications could this have on LSU?

Applewhite was a UT QB who has more offensive records than I can list, and was a coach for a while. However, after an improper relationship with a trainer he isn't exactly on the best terms with Texas. With Herman and him likely wanting to stay together, what other places does Major have ties?

Applewhite was born in Baton Rouge

i would guess that Applewhite would be in contention for the UH job when Herman leaves, if not the favorite.

Just wonder how the moral police feel about Applewhite's past issues vs Briles or Petrino?

Applewhite had a one-time sexual encounter while on staff for UT (and while married) with a UT student trainer at the Fiesta Bowl in 2008. He wasn't fired. Meanwhile, UT's ladies track & field coach (who is black) was fired was fired for having an inappropriate sexual relationship with one of her track athletes. She sued UT on the basis of race discrimination as a result and the Applewhite affair is part of her lawsuit evidence.

There was more to her firing than that (also quite a few NCAA violations) but she is certainly trying to use Major's non firing (his punishment was simply not getting a lock step raise for one year) as evidence of disparate racial/sexual treatment. Most of her claims have been dismissed. I think she has one left. She's not going to win.

That being said, there are quite a few people that don't hold Major in the highest regard in Austin.

Is that solely due to the off-field stuff or does some of that have to do with actual football things while he was on staff?

Ehhh..I would say little chance from what I've read. Whether Major comes back is sort of putting the cart before the horse as to the bigger issue of whether Herman is even coming.

Good question. My opinion is both. The off field stuff is more than the one incident - people who I know who have interacted with him haven't come away with the best impression. Not sure if that's just people being little bitches or not.

I personally was not impressed with him as sole OC (when Harsin left). Harsin showed to be 10 times the play caller/strategist. But Harsin had more experience as well. So maybe Major has learned under Herman/since he left UT.

I'd be ok with it, him coming with Herman. Not him with some random other coach.
