But even the most pessimistic Tiger fan knows there's less than a 5% chance that this doesn't get done.

Might not be a bad thing - I didn't like the fact that the D-line coach would make more than the DC, even with the added (mostly meaningless) titles of "assistant head coach" and "recruiting coordinator".

I like The Hat, the Chief, and the Wizard, and don't think we need the Ogre Yaw Yaw with it for too steep a price and at risk of dividing the defense again. If there's one thing we've learned this year, it's that if you have two defensive coaches running the show, you really have none. You need one Chief, and we have him.

Geaux Tigers - beat GaTech.

Not saying I agree with guy, but Larry Coker has a BCS trophy so don't act as if there is no way to question Les.

He didn't "question" Miles - he said "even with Miles at the Helm, we ought to be in good shape with
our new coaching staff", which is a complete slam. I didn't say Miles was beyond question. I've been reasonably critical of the team's performance this year, and Miles' responsbility in it (namely the Co-DC system, and his selection of those Co-DCs).

Realistically, in 4 years, Miles has outperformed Saban. However, for some posters it's an insult to even suggest that Miles has the same job, or should be mentioned in the same breath as Saban. And we get the "even with Miles at the helm"-type comments that go far beyond "questioning". (And, to be fair to you, you said you didn't necessarily agree with him.)

Ace,

Comparing the first 4 years of Saban and Miles is just pure apples and oranges and anybody who can't see the reason(s) why is probably just football illiterate.

I hate the comparisons of the two. I want whoever the coach is to be successful. The bottom line is Saban was a great coach for LSU and Miles might end up being one too. Until he is done at LSU I will wait to judge his tenure.

When did you realize Saban was a "great coach for LSU"? What event triggered that? Did you wait until he was "done at LSU"?
