I think there's a 1 player difference exactly between LSU & Alabama for currently having the most active players on NFL rosters. We know the talent that rolls through UA because it's on display every game and their well coached. A lot of the LSU players had minimal or average impact on the team while at LSU but have huge impacts their rookie seasons in the league. This waste of talent and potential by the former coaching staff is why most of LSU's fanbase acts the way they do.

With that being said I agree with the posters claiming the LSU OC position is a top 10 job. The "potential" is certainly there for a top 3 but it shouldn't be viewed as that right now.

We thought our HC position was easily top five and ended up with a DL coach.

LSU is a very, very, good program, but if the HC "search" didn't show you that LSU isn't a top 3 job I don't know what else to say.

It's a top 10 job with a cranky child running its athletic department.

We are the only fan base that can have delusions of grandeur and demonstrate paralyzing insecurity at the same time.

Yeah, and how many of those are on defense? We're talking offense. Your OL has been a huge pile of steaming dogshit for the last two years. Think about that the next time you think about yapping "stupid gump." It just makes you look like a fricking idiot.

LSU best moment on offense will be when Nick Saban retires, no matter who our OC is at the time. I hope I'm wrong about that.

I'm very sorry to hear of your brother's medical condition. Being born minus a butthole is traumatic for all those involved. Prayers sent

for once I agree with a "stupid gump". The dude is a fricking idiot if he thinks we have as much talent as bama. Have these guys ever heard of recruiting rankings? Bama #1 for about 8 straight years in a row and no one else is even in the ball park much less LSU.

Are we including the OL? If so, NO to the "we are as talented as the Sisterlovers."

won't be long before they pass us up in that category. But the biggest thing is they have way more talented depth than we have. They have 5 star recruits riding the bench waiting there turns.

Alabama went through a lot of crap between Bear Bryant and Nick Saban, albeit a National Titie under Gene Stallings in 1992. They were in the right place at the right time when Saban came aboard. Had Rich Rodriguez accepted the job in 2006, Alabama wouldn't be where they are at today. Had Saban not had the NFL itch, he may have delivered multiple National Champioships at LSU. I do think he has become an even greater Coach at Alabama than he was at LSU. He learned and adjusted from his NFL experience, but he was not s total failure in the NFL. He took a 3-13 Miami Dolphin team and made them 9-7 thd next year. He lost out on Drew Brees and Culpepper got hurt in the First game of 2006. Had he stayed, he may very well have been successful in the NFL. One of the other reasons he left is because the Dolphins were over the salary cap.

He won a National Titie in 2009, but stumbled the next year and lost 3 games, one of which was to LSU. LSU beat them 9-6 in 2011, but the Tigers had to play them again in the BCS Title Game later that year and we know what happened. Had LSU not had to play the Tide and had they held in in the last $1:40 of the game the following test, it would likely have been LSU winning two National Titles back to back. Perception would have been totally different about the status of each program. It didn't happen and things changed dramatically after that as it pertains to both programs.

Alabama had a hiccup against Auburn the following year when they lost on the Kick 6 and sleep walked through the Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma. Saban adjusted and brought in Lane Kiffin and the offense took off. LSU had their last great chance to beat Alabama in 2014 and let it slip through their finger tips in 50 seconds even though they dominated time of possession for almost 40 minutes. At that point, the fire extinguished in Les Miles and the LSU program even though he stated off 7-0 in 2015. The back loaded part of their schedule caught up with them and they limoed to 9-3.

Miles vowed to change but he didn't really know how to. He should have been let go at the end of last year, but he wasn't but he did have the foresight to hire Dave Aranda. Perhaps he should have been let go after the Wisconsin game, Who knows what might have happened this year had they done that. Maybe they beat Auburn and are in the Sugar Bowl. Maybe something better.

We can not go on what might have been, but I do believe that one twist here or there in the last 15 or so years might have produced a totally different landscape than we have now.

Everything happens for a reason, so let's focus on the future and hope for the best.

Any OC looking for a job would love to come to LSU. The talent here is crazy and has been underutilized. If an OC comes here and puts up great stats immediately, they will be in line to get a head coaching job. Probably not at a power 5 school but somewhere. Look at the previous coordinators and what they've done post-LSU besides Jimbo. I was hesitant about the possibility of Kiffin coming here b/c he will leave when the opportunity comes. Our O has been a dumpster fire for years and we are worried about a coach leaving. If he does, that means LSU's O is producing. Would hate to have a revolving door of coaches but if it's b/c we winning and those guys are getting bigger jobs, I'm all for it.

Nah,things just happen. Sometimes in retrospect they make sense. Sometimes they don't, like with the baby born without a butthole.
