or if they are still just an upper half, but not elite, SEC school.

This hire is very important. It will mark a continuation of the golden era of LSU football, or the end of it.

That is not how this works. LSU can get their first choice and he is a flop or get their third choice and build a dynasty. It is all a crap shoot, and what fans think of a hire day one means NOTHING when it comes to how successful he will be (unless it's a Charlie Strong situation where mega boosters undermine said hire in the first week).

Hopefully the offense hangs 30-40 and the Wild Boyz are tearing shirts off on the way to an undefeated season under O so we wont need to make changes

Such a dumb statement, these stupid black and white statements come only from people with losers mentality. So, Michigan, Texas, USC, ND,..... should have just closed down their football program given what they went through?

The Golden Era of LSU ended on 1/9/12. I'm not saying success there won't be success in the future, but from 2003-2011 was the golden era.

97-22
3 Championship appearances
2 Championships
3 SEC Championships
4-2 Bowl Record
Countless Draft Picks

That era is over and right now that was the golden era. This next coach marks the start of a new era. Not to say we won't have a run just as good or better(see Alabama) but for right now that ship has sailed.
