they can go air raid all they want, but they need a qb to do all that. Heard and Swoopes ain't the QB's they want in a cumbie kind of offense.

Love this hire. Three years is a good contract length.

Will he even take the job? Could be a one year and done for him, especially since Texas won't have the personnel to run that TCU offense.

More money and if he improves the offense then he can set himself up for a good HC gig. If he fails, he can go back down to a TCU type school and start over.

Swoopes could be if he ever had a QB coach.

My issue with Swoopes is he is never the same QB game to game. Either play him or sit him. Do not keep yanking him in and out. He is VY with the skills, but just can not read a coverage or has any confidence. That is solely on Watson, nobody else.

Heard is a better runner but does not have the arm, so to make the offense go they put him in because he could run it, sometimes.

Texas needs to stick with a QB and leave him there, like they did with Brown.

Did you see what he did with Boykin. He was a freakin WR and he became a Heisman trophy candidate. Air raid is all about getting the right match up and getting the ball out early.

You keep saying this but I don't buy it at all. Dude has no football IQ whatsoever and absolutely crumbles under any sort of pressure. Not to mention he can't hit any pass with any sort of consistency. He'll be a senior next year anyways and Cumbie would literally be a miracle worker if he could fix even just one of the mental/accuracy issues, let alone both

Because Texas did him no favors.

First they ruined a redshirt.

They kept pulling him in and out and the media just dogged him.

He needed a competent QB coach who was going to be there all his time and teach him. He never got that. I really believe he was going to be VY like if he got a decent coaching. He has a cannon but terrible mechanics and can not read a coverage. So when he cant figure out a coverage he folds. I did not say he was going to be the next VY either.

The lack of constant coaching made him become Reggie McNeal or Steven McGee.

ETA:

His first winter at the 40 I would have made him throw darts, it would have taught him release points. It is the way some QB coaches teach their option guys to throw.

What was the narrative for Boykin before 2014?

Would you rather have a Swoopes or pat Mahomes skill set?

I think I would take Swoopes skills all day. Given the coaching and players around was the exact same.

It's probably too late to do much with Swoopes, but I agree Mack fricked him hard by burning his shirt for literally no reason

Swoopes takes wayyyy too long to get the ball out to fit an air raid from what I've seen of him. I would take Mahomes over him for this offense all day.

I do think Heard has some serious potential in it.

I know what you're saying, but goodness one of those TD runs against Baylor gave me major Vince Young flashbacks to the Rose Bowl against Michigan
