Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley "hit it out of the park" during his recent Houston interview, according to a source. "I would be surprised if they don't hire him," the source said. "Lincoln killed it."

Riley interviewed in recent days along with Les Miles and Alabama offensive coordiantor Lane Kiffin. Riley's presentation was ahead of the others with Kiffin doing "well," according to the source.

Would be my top choice if I'm them

Young offensive guru who fits their system and you know will be there a few years.

I'd rather that than a retread

also, I will say that if he takes the UH job, his tenure will be more successful than Herman's...IMO.

So you're telling me that actually meeting and interviewing candidates who might not be your number 1 going in may change your mind and potentially the order of your candidates? That's crazy talk

Well what do you know. When you interview a number of candidates sometimes someone you may not have expected will wow you. What a novel concept.

He may get the job, but doesn't fit their criteria of "want a guy who is going to stay a while". Riley is 33. Stoops is 56 and has been at OU for a long time. If OU opens in next 3-4 years and Riley crushes at UH then he's gone.

That said, I don't believe they'll actually use the whole "want to stay here a long time" when the time to make a decision comes along. They'll hire whoever they think is best to help them be good for the next few years so they can put foot forward for P5 inclusion.

I can't wait for us to try and hire Riley in 2020 only to lose out on him when "Oklahoma comes calling."

I think "stay a long time" is 5 years. I don't believe they expect to get more than that. I don't believe the 10 year BS.

They just don't want to do this every other year.
