Yet another poster who has done zero research on Herman. He made the great Nick Saban defense his bitch with a 3rd string QB. Then Saban called him and had him come down and talk to his team about how he did it. To think he's just going to be chum for Saban and Alabama is misinformed.

It's a reasonable idea. O is an elite recruiter and can win 8-9 games a year. Let him stay and keep bringing in elite talent. Saban retires in 4-5 years. Keep O for 3-4 and have the players in place for an elite coach to come in and take over right before Saban leaves and Bama takes whoever the best coach in football is at the time.

i understand what you're saying but it's a bad idea.
Would it work? Maybe. Chances are he'd do alright for a couple of years in recruiting but he'd be fired in three. Next year would be rough for him because most of the fans don't want him. It would be an uphill battle.
