Here's what happened: Saban gave Texas until last Friday to have Mack out of the picture. Mack was being difficult so it didn't happen in time. Why Friday, you might ask? So he could have a couple days before the recruiting dead period began to contact kids in his new role. Texas will make one last push, that extension means nothing without a buyout.

It was "theorized" a few weeks ago that one of the draws for Cam was stepping in for Les when he might retire in the next few years to spend more time with his family, and that Cam was going to get a lot of input in the new offensive hires.
Again, theory, but the article said the money people for LSU would be in favor of such a move.
