Yeah I don't really get why people thought there would be a huge market for him. He's gonna have to really lower his standards if he wants to coach again.

A CLM team with no talent will be the worst team in the nation

The appealing thing about Miles for UH or USF is that he wouldn't go anywhere if he landed there. Neither of those places are stepping stone jobs for Miles. He's not getting another major gig so he is their's for as long as they will have him

As mentioned before, Miles is Phil Fulmer II. A "pound the rock" guy who faded at a big time program. Les is Fred Flintstone in a George Jetson world.

Facts aren't much different with Fulmer and Miles. Fulmer wasn't willing to accept a lower level, non-premier job. I think Les' arrogance and stubbornness will be the same.

He's too good for these jobs, and so will simply keep putting out his names, but not take any of them to get his payday from LSU.

At his age he might want to check out The Villages...

Then why is he pursuing them and interviewing?

These job rumors are basically Jimmy Sexton vs. Trace Armstrong. Both are just throwing their clients names out there and pushing rumors on why the others client is a bad candidate.

Sounds like Les is "leading candidate" for every opening until they hire someone 20 years younger.

Les was fired in shame and apparently LSU thought Ed O of all people would be a better coach. That's not going to help him in recruiting and besides that aspect, why would a mid tier school want him?

He has to in order to keep getting his buyout from LSU. Not sure if he's even interested in these jobs.

Never a good look when a successful coach takes a job and goes 3-9 for his last few years

South Florida is extremely talented for a G5 school and plays in a good conference, but a conference with a couple easy wins per season.

Les is a good recruiter, so they should always have guys.

The only way your scenario occurs is if Les doesn't give a frick and doesn't recruit.

Les is a good recruiter at a school that has no competition within its own state. Huge difference in what LSU offers to recruits and USF offers

Lol

He was a good recruiter at Oklahoma State, with OU and a million Texas schools to recruit against.

I fear Les is about to learn that when you Larry Coker yourself because of stubbornness, people aren't going to line up to hire you.
Stubbornness isn't the biggest issue. He's old.
