No surprise. Second time he has been passed over by Dooley. He was pissed about Sunseri.

Would have liked some fresh blood teaching the OLBs(technically it is), but I'll take his recruiting ability.

Lance would have gone to S. Carolina if Saban had not been interested. He was pissed about Sunseri, Dooley knew this.

Yeah some guys aren't DC material and I've heard this multiple times about him, but to the contrary also heard he came close at Bama before he bolted for Knoxville

Thompson was the DC at Central Florida from 2003-2006 and left there to coach at Alabama in 2007, so he's been a coordinator before.

My favorite thing about Lance Thompson.... He said that he was putting up a wall around Memphis and they weren't going to lose any recruits out of state. The next day Saban got a commitment from K. Malone. Love it. That said he is a great recruiter.

Recruiting to a top notch program helps out, but the crop he himself hauled in from Mobile area in 08 was phenomenal

Agreed. No doubt Saban is a huge plus but just like those guys saying the same thing about Sal... when have we ever nailed 5 star recruits in back to back years from the upper east?
