Barring a last minute, Cleveland Browns assistant Kurt Roper is expected to be named offensive coordinator at South Carolina by new head football coach Will Muschamp.

The 43-year old Roper was offensive coordinator at Florida in 2014 and previously extensively worked under Duke head coach David Cutcliffe. He was offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach from 2008-13 for the Blue Devils and held the same position at Ole Miss from 1999-2004. He also followed Cutcliffe to Tennessee during Cutcliffe’s second stint with the Volunteers where he coached running backs.

Roper is a native of Ames, Iowa, and played quarterback at Rice.

So despite the fact that his offenses at Florida were terrible, Muschamp is hiring his last OC there?

Where is the guy who was arguing with me on Friday that Muschamp was a great hire since he would learn from his mistakes at Florida?

You hire who you trust not who people think you should hire.

Even if the people you trust aren't good at their job? Sound strategy

hahahaha Carolina is going to be UF inept v.2.0 with lesser athletes.

Damn the football fates for dropping S.Carolina off our schedule right as they start to suck again.

Maybe he will have better qbs than Harris and Driskel. Even Cheese-Teeth Jimmy can't do anything with Harris at QB.

How stupid are you, south Carolina? This guy failed at Florida. Why are you hiring him?

But I thought Muschamp is going to have a new offensive philosophy.

If he does this it's officially a terrible hire.

I'm told by USC fans that he learned from his mistakes at UF.
