i don't have a problem with more money. just protect the school by not having an automatic roll over. i have no problem with a 4 year 16 million deal. i don't like long term contracts 7-10 years or automatic roll overs.
Charlie weis comes to mind. you pay the guy for performance and protect the school.

I'd recommend a raise and extension every season we beat Florida and Alabama.
Him working a new contract helps with whoever he's high on for the OC spot. And recruiting too.

So we're morons because we are potentially extending and reworking a contract for a coach ALREADY guaranteed $15 Million for the next 4 years?
I think the buyout gets reduced each year by the amount of his annual salary.

more twelve game seasons also
Also did it in 2005 when there were 11 games.

Ummm... assuming Auburn didn't cheat, Arkansas likely beats them like you claim LSU would've. That puts both at 7-1 and Arky with a head to head win, genius. Arky would win the West.

My guess is bigger salary now, not sure what would happen to guaranteed money, but I think the goal is for us (LSU) to get rid of the automatic roll.

how's that?
I think they'd have still beaten Arky at that time without Newton, but would not have beaten LSU. LSU wins the west even with the Arky loss.

Silly, only LSU's loss to cheaters would be wiped out. Arkansas would have to keep that loss.

If he keeps Crowton around he should have his new contract stuck up his arse.
Go get a good one LES just get rid of ole Gary "Damn that play worked good this game, remind me to never use that again" Crowton.
Geaux Tigers!

Arky loses to Auburn...LSU beats Auburn. pay attention

belowpar, it specifically states in his contract it can only go through 2014. He cannot get a rollover for ever.
That was the one out LSU put in the contract. His rollovers can't put his contract past 2014. According to you, his buyout was $11.5 Million following this year, which means he's already rolled over to 2013. LSU can refuse the roll-over this year if they wanted, but even if they didn't, they are going to change it and still owe him the same money?
They have absolutely no leverage if they do that.

What, that Arky and Mallett would lose an SEC West road game? Heaven forbid....
Posted on 11/30/10 at 2:51 pm to Choctaw
If Miles and Petrino switched jobs would Arkansas get that win and LSU's game with Auburn still be a loss?
Posted on 11/30/10 at 2:51 pm to LSUMafia
There has been a lot of confusion on the rollover and it has been changed with several amendments.
I believe there is differing opinions from both camps and everyone will be looking for something more clear and precise.

I have to say, Miles earned his money this year so far. He took a tremendous amount of crap (that should have probably been thrown elsewhere) and kept the team together and focused. Not the best year on record, but certainly better than most and much better than I expected after seeing the offense play in the first couple of games.
