My brain says Herman, but for some reason Jimbo just feels like the fit. The guy is a really good offensive mind and recruiter, especially of QB's. I know that Herman is younger/could potentially stay longer, but JF is only 51, and could give LSU 10-15 really good years. Weighing all the pros and cons he has to be the #1 choice. Familiarity with the program, the state, the people, the HS coaches, offensive philosophy, proven recruiter, NC on resume.

Herman would be great, if Jimbo isn't available, but Jimbo is the guy.

PLUS he gave us Rohan Davey.

I agree, just make him leave Charlie Kelly at the airport and we're all good.

Need to sit tight. I honestly get the feeling that the search/negotiations are 95% done with whoever the person is; 5% for shite happens. Things will start to get rolling in about a month.

You'd be surprised. Everyone has a number in mind and back channeling has been going on since Wisconsin. I expect an announcement to be made the Monday after A&M... perhaps the Saturday of the SECCG.

I'd like to know who O would pursue as OC. At this point O might be my top choice, but I do agree Jimbo has always been Alleva's #1 target.

I could see either winning a NC in the next 4-5 years for us.

Herman >>>>>>>> Jimbo

Give me the up and coming coach, not the coach currently fizzling out at a top tier program. Jimbo would lead us to more 10-2 seasons which is exactly the reason that Les was fired. He will be Les part 2

Herman coaches his players up

Any coaching candidate would be idiotic to give any assurances and agree to anything before they knew what other jobs are open. Whether or not they would be interested in jobs like Texas, ND, etc, those are bargaining chips

I think that may be too long of a shelf life for Jimbo. Outside of Saban, I'm not sure of many coaches who should be at a school that long.

I'm curious to see how long Meyer stays at OSU. I'm guessing he learned from his experience with the goats.

I love coach BeBe. you can tell his heart and soul is with this program. He loves LSU and bleeds purple and gold. Where herman may or may not use LSU as a stepping stone into the NFL like Saban.

We will see what happens. If BeBe beats bama, give him the job.

As in developed him? Because Davey signed with LSU in 1997. Fisher was still at Auburn as a QB coach.

Develop yes. He was the OC and QB coach in 2001 which was the Rohan Davey ride. That year was the most fun I've ever had watching LSU football.

"Potentially", if he doesn't want to move anywhere else. If Herman did become the LSU HC and do great things, the "Herman to the NFL" talk would become a yearly thing. Jimbo on the other hand is already the HC of a big time program. If his ultimate desire would be to go to the NFL, then he wouldn't need to use LSU as the stepping stone. He could make that jump straight from FSU.

Assuming both would be equally as successful, I think LSU would have a MUCH better chance of keeping Jimbo around longer than Herman. Other than the NFL, I don't think there are any college jobs that are SIGNIFICANTLY better than LSU (or FSU really). A coach can get paid well and can reach the peak of the sport at either school. Plus, there is no big alma mater (like Michigan with Miles) to potentially tug at Jimbo's heart-strings (If Jimbo wanted to be the HC at Samford they would fire their coach today to make it happen!)

Is that an attempt at an analogy with college basketball??

I agree. I'm not saying Herman isn't a more attractive target but my gut says it's Jimbo and I'll be very very happy with that.

because Jimbo would lose more games. He can't even win the ACC
