Is money the only factor for getting the OC we want?

Seems like many here believe the process is:

1. Point at guy you want
2. Write a big check

If this is true, why did LSU settle for Orgeron?

Is there any other reason to coach at LSU besides money?

Which OC would come to LSU and potentially receive HC offers in the future? Maybe within the first 4 years of being the OC?

Wouldnt our OC/DC moving on to a promotion be a great sign that Lsu hired the BEST/RIGHT guy?

Frankly, I want our OC/DC doing so well that they get good offers.

At $2mil a year for an OC, yeah you can pretty much just point to who you want and get him.

The big question is who do they want.

Kiffin is a tad different given his situation, but the vast majority of college OCs out there would jump at $2mil and LSU.

I wish that they'd move away from Kiffin. I really don't think Kiffin would be a good move for LSU. O needs to set aside this personal bullshite. He can start to prove his worth as the Head guy by not mixing business and friendship.

Orgeron pitched that he would take less money than other coach options, in order to pay top coordinators to coach their sides.

It has already showed to be the plan with the Aranda extension. He said in his opening press conference he planned to hire "the best OC in the country".

What don't you guys understand about this.

Whether or not it works, or will work, is up for debate, but the premise that his plan is to hire top notch OCs is pretty evident.

I agree, unless the Kiffin thing was a slam dunk from the start and he walked out on Bama or something,I say do some proper DD for once and find your guy.

Agreed. Hopefully, internally the kiffen ship has long sailed. For 1.6-2 million we should be able to sign most any of the usual suspects being mentioned.

LSU settled for Orgeron because Alleva got punched in the mouth and just curled up on the ground in the fetal position.

I don't think it's that easy. The top guys also know that eventually they're going to be HC candidates so I think they take whether or not the situation fits their career trajectory into account. A top OC isn't going to want to enter a situation that's a massive rebuild offensively speaking.

Like others have said, these top guys will want to move on to be a HC in a couple of years so they aren't going to enter a situation that's going to delay or derail that goal.
