In a straight up choice between Aranda and Riley, I’d pick Aranda.

I know. You’ll call me an idiot. If it’s Riley, I’m happy. Won’t complain. But if it’s Aranda against the field, I pick Aranda. Look at LSU while he was there and after he left. Yes, Burrow and Brady, but even before them. Look at how he has turned Baylor around in year two. This is Saban in 2001 at LSU stuff. He is meticulous and can build a program. Get him a good OC and LSU is a problem year in and year out.
Maybe it’s because I know him and watched him work for years, but there is something to be said for his work everywhere he’s been that translates to continuity. Which is needed. We need to get away from recruiting for 3YrNFLSU so players can use us just to get to the pros and get back to being LSU the program representing Louisiana. I think Aranda can do that better than Riley will.
If it’s Riley, that’s a great hire. But, I think Aranda would be better for the long haul. And I think Aranda stays in college instead of jumping to the NFL.

Far from it. We are all overwhelmingly Aranda or Riley. Both are grandslams

I'd be happy with both, but I'd prefer an offensive minded coach.

Don't tell anyone but I'm kind of with you baw
Lincoln looked awful on Saturday in just about every category. His team got pushed around and he humiliated himself after the game. Soft as hell.

Aranda fan boys may be the most delusional bunch.

I'm Team Aranda but in this case, I don't think we can lose unless we miss both of them some how.

Seems like people's preferences start to align with more realistic options once a coach is no longer on the table. The next evolution is “in a choice between Aranda and Napier, I'd pick Napier.”

My concern with Riley is he hasn't built anything. That was a strong Bob Stoops program he inherited. And he's played in a weak conference where wins are easy. I'll give him this, he's a pied piper for quarterbacks.

So concern is he hasn't built anything, yet has been there for years. Aranda took over a program built by Rhule, year 1 was rough but COVID and doing great year 2. So difference is???

Both are great but nah. CFB is all about offense these days. If they are equal then give me the offensive minded coach.

Is that the same guy lovingly referred to around here as Third & Aranda?

Also Dave Arandas defense beats Riley’s offense all day everyday!!

I hope Aranda is the hire, but can we please stop this nonsense that he "turned Baylor around?" Baylor was 11-3 the year before he arrived, which included a Sugar Bowl loss to Georgia. Matt Rhule was awesome there and left Aranda with a great situation that, to Aranda's credit, he has largely continued. So LSU would be Aranda's very first turn-around job. I think he is up for it.

Riley is an overrated coach. With the offensive talent he brings in on a yearly basis, they should have won a natty since he’s been there. OU was also an established program by the time he got there, so he hasn’t done anything but sustain the program, in a very weak conference.
I think Aranda is everything we’ve been asking for im a head coach, since Saban. The process, the way he does things, and how he thinks, is something that not many college coaches have. He’s a program builder, and will not settle for complacency. He doesn’t care who you’re playing, every game is a game that you must win. He’ll treat playing Vandy like we’re playing Bama. He’s going to get players to play to their best ability. It’s not who you play, but how you play.
I’m not going to say he’s the next Saban, because there will probably never be another Saban, and that would be far fetched, but I think he has what it takes to win a couple, or a few nattys, rather than just 1. We need someone who will win more than just 1 natty.

I’ve been there from the start. Aranda is the guy for LSU.

I'll pick the one with more success as the head coach of a prominent program.
