The man could do great things here.

The 7 losses he has with ND this year, the 50 points his team gave up to Texas and the four losses he has had to losing teams this year have not been great. He's usually a good Xs and Os coach, but I'm not sure he could handle the criticism that comes with the LSU job. Notre Dame has nice fans, he was at Cincinnati before that, but LSU fans and media expect results and expect them fast. Brian Kelly doesn't like to be questioned much.

We aren't hiring someone that would otherwise get fired

Kelly is 15-14 in the past 29 games at Notre Dame.

Charlie Weis was 15-14 in his final 29 games at Notre Dame.

So you are saying, Kelly as Coach and Weis as OC....what a "dream team".

he is a shite coach that can't handle pressure.

seriously you don't hire a fricking coach that has a losing record at any point at ND.

I could deal with hiring Mullen after a 5-7 because at least he is at state

Can we also mention that he's awful at coaching and is 59-30? (almost certain to be 59-31 after the upcoming USCw game.)

Seriously this is a coach who briefly made people think Charlie Strong was bringing Texas back to prominence.

Yeah, he's been hugely successful at the most advantaged university in the NCAA.

Charlie Weis had as many BCS bowl appearances at ND as Kelly, in 2 less years than Kelly has coached. (Kelly's been at ND 7 years and Weis was there for 5.)

Weis also was more competitive in his BCS bowl games, losing BCS bowls by an average of 20.5 points vs Kelly losing BCS bowls by an average of 22 points.

Not sure why this is even being acknowledged. Gerry Faust has about as good a chance of landing the LSU job.

Charlie weis recruited very well at ND. Some top 10 classes including a #2 class. Just saying Kelly didn't really turn that program around from a talent stand point. They were loaded when he took over.
